Awesome! Wait... Why is everyone here Dutch and Portugese? *Feels alone*

I thought we were having so much fun excluding Sasha, we'd might as well attempt another thread where we can do that.

How about translating phrases from and to different languages/dialects.
wink.gif

Speaking of dialects, im curious. Are there greatly different dialects in English, other then Scottish/Whelsh ad Irish? Like how we in Zeeland (a small province in the south west of the Netherlands) speakvery different from other parts in Holland?
huh.gif

Any cool accents i should know about?

Awe, you're so sweet

In Australia, people think we say "G-day" and stuff, but it's not true. When we say stuff like that, we usually mean it as a joke about aussies, but nobody says it on a daily basis. And before you ask, no, we do not have kangaroos and koalas parading the streets. That was the Olympic Games
happy.gif

Oh and by the way, DavidY, did you go to the Games? I went to The Opening Ceremony, Gymnastics, Netball and the Closing Ceremony. It was so fun - it was in my home town
happy.gif

G-day mate. I went to volleyball, and the olympic players were good
tongue.gif

My translations:
Good day: ni hao ma
Your mum is good: ni ma hao

translator's note: never confuse the hao and ma in your sentence

What language is that DavidY?
huh.gif

Dutch:
Good day: Goedendag
Your mum is good: Je moeder is goed.

Zeeuws:
Good day: Hoejndag

let's teach you some portuguese, then
wink.gif

good day: bom dia
your mom is good: a tua mãe é boa (also means "your mom is hot")
what am i doing here?: o que é que estou aqui a fazer?
another beer, please: outra cerveja, se faz favor

having fun?

How much for that: Cuanto por eso?

In how many different languages can we say that i'm at school?
happy.gif

Second: Ik ben op school
Third: Ich bin auf Schule. (my german sucks, so its probably not auf)
Fourth: Je suis en l'ecole. (I hate french and will deny knowing the language if anyone asks, so this one is probably wrong as well)
I could do Spanish, but I dont want to steal the spotlight from the Mexicans.
laugh.gif

Um... The French is okay. It's actually "Je vais à l'école", because suis is ownership over something, but vais is to go.

Thanx to Mum, Dim, Jennki and Myself
happy.gif
:

English: I go to school.
French: Je vais à l'école.
Italian: Vado alla scuola.
Spanish: Voy a la escuela.
German: Ich gehe zur Schule.
Portugese: Eu vou à escola.
Dutch: Ik ga naar school.
Japanese: 私は学校に行く。
Korean: 나는 학교에 간다.

There would be more, but the family is still learning
happy.gif

I thought J'ai. Was I have.
blink.gif

Je suis is I am.

You know people who know Dutch?
happy.gif

Also, I thought we were translating that we were at school, not that we were going to school.
wink.gif

Yes, yes it was. Time you couldve spent on the sig of your...whatever gender it has.
