Kirito is not someone who is overtly masculine or someone who is confident in his masculinity - he can play the game when needed (like when he had to play the badguy at the start of SAO), but he is an emotion-focused introvert and an adrenaline-addict.
Its only normal that with such an avatar and voice-change, his behavior would come off that way even naturally.
