Things kick off right where we left things with Miranjo declaring her desire to bring the kingdom to ruin. Dorshe and Hiling are shocked over this bold admission. Dorshe takes a moment to reflect on this sudden outburst and then begins to ponder whether it was Miranjo who brought down Bosse’s wife. He does not have long to reflect as the fiends guarding Miranjo come to bounce! He gives them a good wallop!

But the battle is not what it seems, and it takes the outburst of Ann to say this early beating is but a ruse to sus the men’s range of weapons. There is a long drawn out pause as each party sizes up their foe waiting for the other to strike first. The tension is soon palatable, but it is the beasts who blink first going headlong into Dorshe seemingly consuming him in one frenzied attack! Hiling cannot believe what she saw but her shock is misplaced as Dorshe actually came out of the attack unscathed due to a little trick up his sleeves (or should I say clothes!).

Impressed but unphased Miranjo can see only victory and death for her adversaries. The number of beasts circling Hiling’s retinue of guards is substantial despite the significant number of losses and when the Miranjo sets the hounds on Hiling things appear to take a decidedly grim turn.

Fortunately, Dorshe makes up the ground to protect her and with the guards repelling the attacks of Red and Black a stalemate seems to be the likely outcome… That is, until Gigan joins the fray and with his huge stature he manages to easily subdue the three guardsmen!

Sensing Hiling’s life is in mortal danger Dorshe signals for the horse to flee by whistling but this act of flight is all for naught as the horse’s escape is quickly blocked by what looks to be the strongest criminal of the lot, Prince Ouken. The horse panics and this gives the prince the opportunity to strike at Hiling! Dorshe and Ann momentary stop when hearing the commotion and that moment of distraction is enough for Gigan to strike a mighty blow against Dorshe. Ann throws some darts at the Ouken and lands what appears to be the killing blow… But any of sense of victory is short lived as inexplicitly the man survives and in the next moment carves his sword straight at Ann’s neck striking her down instantly. Hiling now in a state of shock attacks the man with some holy magic and this manages to repel him sending him fleeing in terror.

Surprised her attack would have such an effect she tends to Ann’s terrible wounds desperately casting some healing magic and almost loses herself. She drinks some mysterious fluids to maintain consciousness, but the drink only puts her danger into sharp focus as the beasts have now encircled both Hiling and Ann! Any hope she had has truly been extinguished as Hiling despairs at the impending doom that awaits her. She is about to give in but hope springs eternal as she vows, she should - MUST - protect Daida and just as the killing blow is made to extinguish her life she is saved by an unlikely ally…

Apeas tells her to flee and for a moment she heeds his call but quickly realises she can’t leave her comrade Ann to die amongst the wolves, so she attempts to save her. Apeas is touched by this act of solidarity and Miranjo is too as she forgives his act of betrayal for what she has just seen.

Emboldened Apeas shouts out to Dorshe who quickly regains consciousness throwing the hammer to knock Gigan out! Dorshe then paves away straight through the hordes of dogs. His battle prowess stuns everyone, but his moment of glory is fleeting as the dogs land some bone crunching blows! His fate seems sealed but then Miranjo calls a hasty retreat for something has already broken in…

Apeas is in awe at the valiant display pleads to Miranjo to spare Hiling’s life. With his will wavering Miranjo begins to consider whether Apeas is actual enemy after all, but Apeas manages to regain some of his earlier composure and asks why she is so set in getting Hiling. Miranjo responds by saying that Hiling and her family are all barriers that prevent Bosse from achieving his true dream. It begs the question what is his dream? Miranjo reflects then decides that Apea’s task is now complete and she must be taken to the chambers below to fight her battle alone. It is at this moment when we see one of the beasts devour one of Dorshe’s feet…

The mysterious Prince Ouken is seen wandering around town and he takes a swipe at an innocent lady. The guards are frighted but maintain enough discipline to mount an attack. It is all for nothing though as Ouken is easily able to repel the attack. After a period of time, Bojji and Desha’s armed guard enter the town and attempt to stop the prince from continuing his rampage but then realise this a foe that is beyond their powers. Fearful of the prospect that Bojji should face the prince Bojji is persuaded to reach the castle to save Hiling and her friends…

Apeas carries Miranjo back as agreed when Red and Black decide to ambush him and steal the mirror. This ambush appears to be thwarted when Miranjo turns into solid gold and weighs Black down while Apeas overcomes Red’s attack. Things take a surprising turn however when one from the criminal gang decides to call a truth, but this truth is anything but…

Thoughts: This episode was action packed as it was pretty much a slugfest between Hiling’s guard and Miranjo’s mob of monsters/villains. Beyond the mayhem was some titbits of mystery as Miranjo’s desire to “help” Bosse seems stronger than ever. She is prepared to be casted as a villain if only to allow Bosse to fulfil his goals. Whatever those goals are a mystery to me, but I feel those goals of his are probably genuine and this not simply the imagination and ramblings of a jilted lady. What will become of it is the central mystery.

Other bits to ponder is the strength of Prince Ouken and what is the power behind his strength and why is he the complete enemy to Bojji? A bit of a head scratcher that one and hopefully this gets revealed soon enough!
