The story of free radical (an offshoot from Rare and the development team within Rare responsible for the groundbreaking N64 golden eye, Perfect Dark and Timesplitter games). Free Radical basically got ganked by every major video game publisher you can name with LucasArts putting in the final boot.
And if you want to know what is happening to the beloved Rare team, their creativity is being routinely gouged out by Microsoft Kinect orientated strategy. I dont blame Microsoft though. I blame Nintendo for Rare's fate.
Today I was late for work...and why? Because I was up all night watching this fantastic documentary on youtube about SSBM.
If you owned a Gamecube.... chances are you played melee and you know how wondrous that game was. This series of episodes, which are all available on youtube, documents the rise and fall of the competitive Smash scene.
Even if you just have a passing interest...I advise you to watch it because there is great editing, a funny script and real drama. All around it is very entertaining. It made me really nostalgic and for the first time loathe the fact that I wasnt born in America.
Best line had to be "when the fuck did this pasty white kid learn to play basketball"
