QUOTE (dchaosblade @ Feb 12 2010, 12:42 AM) I don't look down on people who smoke or do drugs or whatever else (in moderation). I DO look down on people who break the law though. And seeing that the majority of people who do drugs break the law...yeah, I look down on them.
Putting law aside (assuming said drugs were legal, for example), if a person were to use those drugs I wouldn't look down on them so long as they didn't do it in excess to the point where it damages them either through their lifestyle, financially, or their actual LIFE. That said, I don't find smoking, doing drugs, or drinking in excess to be at all attractive. For me, it's a big turn-off for various reasons. A drink here and there is fine, getting so drunk you can't walk straight on a regular basis is not.

Personally, I have never done any drugs (at least, not drugs in the sense of what is being discussed), nor have I ever smoked. I plan to never do either. I have drunk alcohol before, though I've never been drunk. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is (both with drinking and drugs). I feel that if you're using it as an escape mechanism then there are many much safer, healthier (more legal) options. If you're using it b/c it's cool...that's just stupid... As for the effects of using them...why would someone want to get dizzy, be unable to think/see/walk straight, pass out (after throwing up), wake up, have a hangover, and have trouble remembering the previous night? Drugs tend to have similar effects plus a couple and possibly minus one or two. I don't see anything attractive about any of that...then add in addiction and yeah...
I am not a friend of getting drunk either, I also dont know what the big deal is and I suspect most people just want to be cool when they drink without moderation. However, the first stage of intoxication usually is quite pleasant. If you are in a good mood, your mood will sky rocket too. If you are in a bad mood, usually you get broody..... and when you have some problems, sometimes drinking alcohol can help you think. Or at least it is like that with me. In a sober condition, my thinking patterns are sometimes too complex.... I drink a little (with emphasis on little) and the pain goes partially away, the brain slows down and suddenly I am able to see things in a way I wasnt able to before and I am able to come to conculsions or decide things. Of course this is not a long term solution.

i really dont like when ppl say "moderate" usage of illegal drugs are ok. this is because in the end, from how much usage will it be considered "too much" ? We are humans, not machines. I doubt theres a single person out there that knows from what dosage will our body not function, unless they are some medical specialists.

Also, doesnt that imply we can still use drugs as long as we dont do it more than what we should ? That technically teaches young, vulnerable kids to use drugs recreationally and eventually, will screw them up. I think the society is WAY too easy and soft against those people that use drugs as a regular social activity. In the end, we have to decide whether we CAN or CANNOT use drugs (harmful ones recreationally/socially, not the ones used medically)... otherwise, the laws and the rules are WAYYY too unclear for many people. If you cannot make harmful drugs illegal, then the drug related issues will exist within our society eternally and we will never reach any resolution.

I bet if you had your own kids and if they started using hardcore drugs and became a hardcore drug addict, and let's say they've screwed their lives so much to a point where you lost everything (house, friends, jobs, money) and u had to work 24/7 as a prostitute for the rest of your life in a slump to pay for what he/she had done, im sure u would all agree with me, given the fact that they've started using drugs as a way of having fun.

Not everyone uses drugs for fun. Painkillers is probably one of the most used drugs, out of all drugs; prescription or illegal. A person with Rheumatoid arthritis has constant never ending pain until you take some painkillers. Now with constant use your likely to grow dependent on them. An addiction starts where there really shouldn't be one. Really it all does come down to moderation. You can't justify drugs under different labels such as illegal, hardcore, prescription etc because in the end they're ALL drugs. Cigarettes are drugs, alcohol, pot, oxycontin, all drugs. Now I'm an occasional drug user and even I would look down on someone who doesn't moderate. I wouldn't be able to look down on my self because I have no reason to. I have a job, go to a great college, doing I'm doing pre-med.

It's true not everyone uses drugs for fun. I get migraine headaches, severe enough to interfere with work and school, have since puberty. The doctors just throw painkillers at me now, OC's, Percocets, Codeine, you name it. While they do provide some respite... the side effects are not worth it.

I found out though that smoking a little marijuana seemed to help. Well help isn't the right word... it's closer to cure. I now vaporize (no tar or smoke) and within minutes, the pain goes, and I am able to function.

Bashing 'drugs' aka medicine is silly.

You can't pick a few substances and say they are 'bad' and that some are 'good.' It's about respect. When kids find out DARE is full of bs, they lose respect for these powerful substances, or if they are like me it just makes them curious and want to try them. (Acid makes you hear with your eyes and see with your ears??!!!!!) The lack of respect leads to misuse, abuse, and addiction.

The societal problem is that we incorrectly fear some drugs, and think others are fine.

After having my fresh cup of stimulant and herbal medicine, I thank God for the fruits of nature. I step outside; breathing deep the dioxin polluted winds. I wonder why you all worry about silly things like meth; most of you probably 'wash your hands' with neurotoxins before you eat ground adrenal glands preserved with nitrates (antibacterial soap and hotdogs). Wash it down with some fresh sodium benzoate drinks. Finding no answers, I head off to work in my greenhouse gas emitting deathtrap.

Drugs are medicine. Heroin is a pain reliever, meth cures sleepiness, mdma is great for fixing a marriage. Caffeine is a hardcore stimulant alkaloid, like cocaine. I was pointing out that all drugs could be useful, and are medicine. The harm or help is all in how it's used.

Don't fall under the spell of big pharma. They don't have the health of people in their interests, only profits. The medicine they can't make profit from becomes illegal, and subject to misuse. The FDA has been in their pocket since the '30s, giving us things like poison in our food and drink, and therapies instead of cures. With the proper respect for a medicine, I feel that taking anything is ok. The decision should be up to the informed individual instead of some bureaucracy. It can't be this way I know; because people don't have enough respect for chemicals; neither the ones that have been demonized by the government, or the ones we think are safe.

A short hypothetical dialogue to illustrate:
"Drugz are awful, they ruin livez," Jimmy says as he sips his Mountain Dew.
As Timmy takes the last bite of his Baconator he says "Yeah like cocaine that junkz bad for your heart."
"It takez your money and give you nothing." Jimmy says as he pulls up to the store to buy his weekly lotto tickets.
"Get me a Redbull while you're in there dude."

And a little factoid:
In the Kanto Region of Japan, the levels of atmospheric dioxins are high enough that the chance of getting cancer from breathing fresh air is higher than from breathing cigarette fumes. Resource

Why does this forum have to be a discussion over whether drugs or good or bad? I mean, its not like this thread is in the thoughtful section.

And on that note:
QUOTE (mosque @ Feb 13 2010, 01:24 AM)I now vaporize (no tar or smoke) and within minutes, the pain goes, and I am able to function.
I greatly endorse the use of a vaporizer because of it's efficiency and ease of use. I've noticed I can use less pot in a vaporizer than in a pipe or bong to achieve the same results. Also like a bong the air doesn't irritate your lungs as much. Unlike a water bong though, a vaporizer is much smaller so it takes up less room. The disadvantages though are that you waste more lighter fluid since you're actually literally baking rather than smoking. But you can get over that issue by using a torch lighter (just be careful not to melt the vaporizer).

BTW, I don't approve of anyone who isn't responsible enough to drink to smoke weed.

As for personal preferences, I hate how tobacco tastes so I don't smoke cigarettes although I have. And I don't like drinking until I'm stupid usually because I get too emotional

Ah, you're using a bag vape (I wish I had the money for one of those).
You can also use any sort of closed container that heat can travel through, such as a glass ball of a sort. The principle of how it works is more or less the same.

QUOTE (warita200 @ Feb 07 2010, 05:22 PM) Actually he said, that people who do it out of medical reasons are an exception. Either that or I forgot my english. I checked his post once more..... and I am correct.

Sharing opinion is of course welcome, but when you wish to post a contrary opinion to somebody elses post, maybe reading his post properly is a good idea. I dont mean to start a fight, so please dont flame me.
Forgot that I had posted here.. So yes the smoking weed as an medicine was just my opinion and didn't have anything to do with sayonara solitia. What I wanted to know was if he/she looks down on people who drink.

I smoke, started cause of social pressure, kept on doing it to socialize, and keep on doing it now, cause its the only thing that makes me calm.

And its making me poor in the meantime.

I'm from BC Canada, so pot is the only smoke I smoke, because its THE BEST WEED anyone could get anywhere. Not that i've smoked alot of foriegn weed, Hawiian weed once.

Has anyone here ever looked at the lungs of a person who smokes ....well dont

oh and Ive never smoked I had a drink once but it was nasty that was 2 years ago

I smoke cigarettes and drink, and have done so for a number of years. For me it's simply the fact that I work 40 to 50 hours or more a week and both have become a good stress reliever in moderation. However I can also understand that some people find it useful to use marijuana, as many of my employees do in their off time, because without it they are complete and total jerks and impossible to deal with. any of the heaver stuff will just wreck you in the long run as I have also seen.
