Ads Suggestion

Well you may have a reason for not doing this, but since you only have two ads on the frontpage it makes it difficult to support this site with many clicks. If you had more ads or varied ads, or forum ads, etc. Then those who enjoy your site can support it more. (that is unless you guys are getting enough)

QUOTE (Moogle Stiltzkin @ Nov 10 2004, 02:38 AM) Kalos is right.

5-6 ads horizontaly would be good.
Would five or six ads horizontally (that's left to right, correct?) even fit on a page?

You could definitely fit at least four on the frontpage.

And also you could put different ads in different sections of the web page.

I think google does it automatically. If it sees a word a lot in a forum it finds an ad for it (best of all, unlike pop-ups they're not obtrusive).

Then again I'm no expert. Just going by what I see on other sites.

Google does do that. But... beware of google. In the past I have seen them cancel accounts for many sites. The minute the clicks start generating too much revenue, according to them, they cancel the account and don't even pay what you have earned during that month. They always find an excuse, sometimes a very lame one at that. They accuse sites of breaching their contract without proof. They know that you won't sue them because of costs.

I'm afraid Baka-Ost has just found that out, the hard way.

Well, the key to staying with the Google Adsense program is to follow their program policies. If your site follows their policies then they have little reason to terminate your account even if you are making a good amount of money.

The only reason why I'm running google ads now is that it helps blunt the cost to my bank account. I have an income (unstable as it might be) and I enjoy doing this. The servers that I get aren't only locked down to one or two uses, I use them myself for other projects. Plus, whatever code or work that I develop for Fansub TV means additional experience and knowledge for me. There's even the possibility that some of the code written here will be of interest to my clients and they might want to purchase parts of the system. So who knows... this site might be in alpha or beta testing mode forever if it turns out to be my development and experimental platform.
