Rewrite 2nd Season: Moon-hen / Terra-hen

Ending was ok... not sure what I was expecting... something more... but it ends in an apparent oblivion of chaos to lead to a new order of things... the rewrite of the world is complete. Interesting anyway... in the end she is all that's left.... sort of like going back to the beginning with the planet's morphogenetic field starting position.... information field theory sort of thing. Guess I wanted more, but more wasn't setup beforehand, so it's to be expected... but the potential was there.

Rewrite 2nd Season: Moon / Terra arcs, just give coffee to the Keyller loli or die

it's not over yet ;p is 2 arcs like Danganronpa 3, but MC respawns ala Re:zero :)

A new season of Rewrite could be interesting, as it was the main ingredient in the plot of S1 anyway.... everything repeats over and over until....? Same is said to be the case with our planet, it's all a school for greater self-conscious awareness.. thus the religious/philosophical traditions within most Eastern 'religions'... Hinduism... updated and cleaned up with the Buddha's teachings, and in the Punjab with the Sikhs... same with Taoism in China... in the West, you have to go to esoteric teachings in Chistianity... like M and G... etc. THe cosmos as school and there are set 'terms' to life here.... etc... cyclical time.. . versus the linear version we have been taught here in the West.... to better control the herd/sheeple. You can find a lot of this stuff touched upon in anime, but barely, mostly as a background worldview situation, as it seems most of the creators don't know the traditions themselves... just a vehicle for their stories.

A redo or S2 could be like the 'rewrite' in Narnia, at least in that one book about how all the critters etc went into some 'cave'? led by the Lion as creator... and the world started all over again... like the symbolism of Noah's Ark etc etc...
Could be interesting if the writers are up to the task... even if they just show the small changes... which can be along the lines of the 'butterfly affect'... 'thousand monkey effect'... etc... leading to basic critical point analysis.... all depends upon those small choices in our individual and collective lives.
well Now S2 title makes sense with the moon as Earth's replica in ep.16, then i guess 'side-Terra' will start tomorrow... still 'I want to meet you someday' was more simple completing Kagari's theory, than 3 cups 0f coffee for her trust <_<

Based on a visual novel... and from a review i read on ANN? perhaps it was about the first ep or something... there are many plotlines that diverge and/or converge in the novel? Something like that.... interesting short review of the first ep or two I guess. Ok.... reading the Wikipedia entry now.... one of those role play gameconsole platform things.... multiple vectors etc.... and whenever an anime is made from them, they have to unite or converge the multiple vectors... which is always a challenge, and always has 'issues', but Key is rather good with these... usually. Hmmm... so the question is how many vectors or paths did the first series cover if the second series is said to follow 2 others? Maybe it's best I don't know? Not a game player anyway, and these all follow a certain methodology.... anyone play the game and knows the answer?

i don't yet (Hiasubi started this topic :/ maybe he can answer), about questions as Koutaro joins Guardian in ep.18... is this arc prequel meeting a younger cast or reboot, before Kotori becomes a Druid to clone him and her dead parents?

Ok.... I don't do the Visual novels or games... so i looked it up on Wikipedia.... now I see what you mean... the different vectors or arcs that can be taken,.... and the anime team have to decide how to combine them or choose which will be the main one etc... this has good and bad aspects from past Key works... they are good at setting up the characters, but some of this multicombining of arcs is a wee bit awkward at times... but they have to do some of it to satisfy fans... different arcs for different fan bases it seems... bound to upset some of them with any choice.

So, I'll have to catch up on this before starting a new older series from my list. That Tiger&Bunny was a fun find.
This 'Rewrite' or reset is similar to the cosmos... said to operate in cycles and said to 'reset' or 'rewrite' rather soon... thus my interest.
How many arcs are there in this Visual Novel? Is that an indication of the number of cours? THe WIkipedia page implies 24 eps... Ok... I see 8 main plot lines... 3 major and then 5 more show up later as possibilities...
After the plot lines for these five heroines have been completed, an additional scenario called Moon is made available. Upon the completion of the Moon route, another scenario called Terra is made available, which serves as the true conclusion to the story; both Moon and Terra revolve around the main heroine, Kagari.
[...]Kagari, the main heroine of Rewrite, has the power to initiate a period of re-evolution, which restarts the process of evolving another means of intelligent life. However, this is done with the use of the Earth's energy, and by the time the events of Rewrite occur, there is no more energy left to do another re-evolution. Gaia wants to capture Kagari to ensure the destruction of humanity, but Guardian wishes to seek out Kagari to kill her, ensuring that human life continues.
[...] Kazamatsuri is partly destroyed when Gaia attempts to force Kagari to initiate re-evolution, but Kotarou manages to stop this from occurring. As a result, Kagari praises Kotarou and shows gratitude for showing her satisfactory memories. Kotarou unwillingly stabs Kagari, and after a kiss, they evolve into an orb of light inside a tree.
Humanity survives in the aftermath, but the world experiences an ice age outside of Kazamatsuri. In the city, a huge tree grows 500 meters tall in three years, which contains the orb of light from Kotarou and Kagari. The five heroines, now in high school, investigate the tree as members of the occult research society and transform Kotarou into a familiar, but he refuses to do what they demand. Kotarou takes the girls to the Moon where they are shown circled around a seedling (as the embodiment of the Moon's Kagari) sprouting on the otherwise barren regolith.
[...]
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation is directed by Tensho and produced by 8-Bit. The first 13 episodes aired between July 2[109] and September 24, 2016. The latter 11 episodes will premiere on January 14, 2017, which will adapt the Moon and Terra routes from the visual novel.
So, this is what you are talking about? The moon and earth arcs? If any of that is a spoiler, let me know. So was S1 the Moon or Earth arc?.. according to the Wikipedia entry, isn't S2 the latter?... the Terra arc or true conclusion? Again, from an esoteric angle, the "moon" mention is interesting, as it is said to be entering the 2nd density state currently, developing an atmosphere.... an old chunk of earth torn off long long ago by a passing large comet/asteroid, when earth was much younger and its form not solid. interesting.

Ok... saw the second season so far... very good, better than 1st season, but that is how all of these Key works operate...RPG/VN... the first season is always the expansion, and now the second season seems to have the contraction... to the main storyline and condensation of characters to their 'key' parts, or roles reaching towards the finale.... if the VN is like this second season, then it is classic Key in terms of how they condense things... keep the other 'players' in the background.... I like how the various previous lifetimes with the MC was presented in quick fashion of a montage, that was used again in a later ep or in same.... in an even more condensed format.... nice touch of editing there.... to keep pushing the action scene until they all died and the world reset..... then the setup in a quick lifetime in desert warfare.. then back to the world we know from the first season.... only from a different angle, side of the game.... nicely done, how the did all of it... Key is getting better with their projects it seems... learning from past mistakes or choices... as not all choices are really mistakes, but merely different ways of presenting the story... same in the VNs themselves from what I've read.

The pace has slowed down in the last couple of eps... but looks to ramp back up in another one or two... they really packed in alot of exposition in the first 2 or 3 eps.. no wasted space... not so far anyway... pretty 'tight', all around. Nice to see a well done work.

agreed so fate reunited Koutaro Suzuki Bond and Kagari in ep.19, but this time they didn't want to kill each other... also Kotori was close meaning her parents died, his 'Something tells me you really suck at English' apply many animes

Yeah, 'engrish' they call it, right? But since this is for their home to local Asian marketplace, that 'engrish' might be deemed 'ok', right? Nothing close to accurate or real, but for them this might be acceptable? That anime about the band... can't remember the name... B... but the those 2 kids in particular were supposed to have grown up in the States... and their dialects weren't even close... not even close... but maybe this is acceptable in Japan?

i guess as espanglish works because it's funny? yet, is rare to see corrections in anime like Fuuka 8: 'fall moon... or maybe fallen sounds better grammatically?' back to ep'20, can MC really leave Guardian after facing wars 0utside Japan?<_<

I haven't watched it since ep 18... 13+ ep 5 I guess? but this Guardian and the others seem to be global and not local, so perhaps one isn't really leaving the team? Sort of like how our USA contractors are always 'ex-CIA'... right. Otherwise i don't know... it started with him abroad and then on the Moon? then back with that group and I think that is the last ep I saw.. I really like to wait till the rest of the season is over... unless I get bored of course. ^_^

yep but he is like a double agent/spy of Guardian and Gaia in #21, now finding Kagari protected by Kotori back at Japan... yet his trust on both doesn't look as strong unlike with Jasmin, so lets see if their 'Nice memories' can save Earth -_-

Ok, understand what you're referring to.... just watched the last few eps... after checking out the one before that again to remember what was going on... the 'double agent' aspect showed up in the last ep if I remember correctly.... decent writing so far for this genre... each repeat is a slight variation... attempt to change the pattern in place that requires a reset... or rewrite to occur... so not bad... only he seems older than some of the others... and I don't remember him being older? I'd have to rewatch the first season, and that's not gonna happen. ;) The juxtaposition of the kids being used everywhere is part of the historical pattern of how people get used and abused by the PTB running this 'game' or 'puppet show'... everyone gets conned from birth... .same in this series... one side of the equation or the other... and this time, the guy is trying something different, as far as he remembers by spying on both... different... as both are part of the problem needing resolution to prevent a rewrite... reset.... the monsters remind me of the various wars/regime change ops that are always going on.... covert or overt ops... military or financial manipulation... those 'Economic Hitman' or jackal types that promote the empire we currently lead...

Haven't seen the game, but this is set up rather well... .considering it's market and audience.

I don't remember that mental options check in the first season.... interesting touch to dramatize it for the audience.. reminds me of a scene in The Celestine Prophecy... that fork in the mtn road.. the road less traveled etc... interesting collection of elements in this story....

if I recall correctly his look is younger in S1 for being revived by Kotori, like she did with her parents in this arc too... About #22 I don't get how he Isn't caught yet Infiltrating both organizations, 'different' face but same alias! come on

Yeah, we'd need someone who's played the game to understand some of this stuff, as he's older than all the girls in the first season.... not sure why with all those kills/resets from the first few eps this season? But it seems consistent so far, as he's older than all those girls from high school, where he's not anymore... being older.... Interesting that they haven't really shown him using his rewrite abilities in either group... and yes, he's spied on and checked out, but neither side seems to check him out enough to watch where he goes and wonder about the connections? Though, to be honest, that is the role of a double agent... with the problem for either group being that they really can't be sure he's working for them or the other group.... or for himself, which seems to be the case here. Most likely, this is all explained in the game...

It seems the other girls are still being introduced slowly... compared to how fast the first few eps started out with all that exposition... things have really slowed down... but with only 4 more to go? it should pick up speed again in the next ep or two... assuming another 13 ep season.

The only problem I've had is the usual 'alien' not knowing about humans.... ?!?!?! as if someone that's been around forever never learns anything? But this trope is expected of such teen fare I suppose... a sign of weak setup/worldview... but most setups are like this in most anime/films etc, in any country... rather ridiculous but that's the way our cultural police want it.... keep the sheeple ignorant and following orders.... same in those two main groups in this anime.... same in life.... 'do as I say, not as I do'.

finally he has no choice but to start wars between both sides, rewriting himself at risk of his life or true identity in ep.23... even acting as villain with Kotori: for her safety and Kagari's, let's see if his 'master plan' will change S1 doomsday -_-

Yeah, the bit with Kotori was a little predictable and IMO, not very well written... the setup has been going in this direction for quite a few eps, but the writing seems weaker... Kagari's part seems dull... whatever happened to the 'coffee' bit from S1? it was funny and let's face it, this whole bit about her as a 'god' not understanding humanity's role on this planet and her need for 'fond memories' seems weak as well.... this happens a lot in anime targeted for kids... the 'dumbing down' process by adults trying to simplify the concept for kids.... not sure what the targeted age group for the game/anime was/is, but this S2 started off so 'smart', and has really taken a turn into the mundane routine...

was Kotori that young in S1? I remember her being older... some of the others are, but then a couple others aren't... not sure I get that part, probably something in the play of the game that would explain it. I hope they pull things together in the last 3 eps... we haven't heard of what his 'family' in ME or Africa or wherever that was came up with... his plan... but the whole 'fond memories'? C'Mon... does he even understand what that means? The writing is very weak with that aspect, as if they decided to sort of ignore it... maybe just for the anime? perhaps the game dealt with it better?

I know they have to edit/converge it all for this anime in some aspects, but right now, in the last couple of eps, it seems weak. I hope the next one gets better, they should be introducing the 'plan' as the choir picks up... maybe some coffee as well? ^_^

nop only 1 but I don't care anymore seeing how it all ended, yet as start of S1? like you said S2 looked more promising... at first! then too many WTF moments didn't make sense, happy ending or not (from KEY) so far I prefer Planetarian :p

Yes, Planetarium showed real promise, in its worldview, setup, characters etc... figures that they didn't do much with it.
Just finished the last ep... yeah, I thought 13, but only 11... and no coffee... not much along that line of things.... a let down... it seems Key isn't good with endings to their projects, maybe they need to bring in some one that knows how to finish a story? They're good at setting one up, bad at ending most of them.... I would like to see Planetarium continued. Can't say much for this one... Rewrite... those kids abroad, didn't seem to figure into the plan at the end... though I think I saw them... but no real connection.... to much of anything... I think all the setup was for naught.... a waste of time... they shouldn't start esoteric/meaning of life storylines that they don't really understand. Oh well.... typical Key product... I understand the complaints of others now. ;) This last ep reminded me of that last project of theirs that they did a fast wrapup closing episode to... "Charlotte", which had a decent setup, etc... but they ended it in typical lackluster fashion, which they seem to have a habit of doing. It does make me understand all those compliants of others... after seeing a few of these now... it's is a pattern of theirs. I'm reading the Wikipedia entry of Plantarium now... seems quite a bit of new material was added into the film version: Hoshi no Hito... so, guess I'll look for it. Oops... guess I'm spelling it wrong.. Planetarian: Hoshi no Hito.... guess that explains why I'm having trouble finding it....

I wonder if I saw that OVA on Space Brothers when they were young.. and some girl that also had a dream? Planetarium Uchuu Kyoudai: Itten no Hikari... can't remember that girl... though that story of their seeing the UFO was in a few eps, everytime they thought back on it... .but I don't remember any girl and her dream... maybe I forgot.... I'll have to check it out....

Black Jack is still rather good, better than expected this S2... the way they are including political issues etc.. don't see that in anime that I remember, not in any recognizable manner.... and I'm starting to like the set animated freeze frames.. the way they use them to bookend a scene etc... different... stylish.... I'm used to that 'girl', but she is mostly for comic relief.. sometimes funny, but odd... doesn't really fit in, sort of seems like a necessary element to sell the product... they don't explain her yet... artificial skin... wiki entry says she's some tumor thing???

But this Rewrite ending is a disappointment....not bad, just not good... but I've never seen any of their games these animes as based on, so I can't compare. Are they excessable online? I'm a little curious to see their reference material.

dropped it after ep.1 -.- now i'm less interested to try other key animes, except Hoshi no Hito film even If most is recap... I guess you'll prefer Young Black Jack lacking its loli, only Space Bros i can't find proper subs yet: Live-action
