QUOTE (Hiasubi @ Sep 29 2015,10:10 AM)Punch Man simply because the Manga is epic, Diabolik Lovers, the first season i though was total garbageagreed the pre-airs are subbed already, earliest fall series next to Lupin III

So....

ONE PUNCH MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....Just freakin' AWESOME is all.

Makes the rest of the new anime lineup tolerable.

Though I think that I will like the re-telling of UTAWARERUMONO. And I never would have thought that they would make Komari-chan even "bouncier" than she already is in the manga... The kid is only 13 years for crying out loud! Creepy-much? By the way, Age her 10 years and put classes on her and you get "Lucy" from Servant x Service! Niiice....

Comet Lucifer looks like it has potential. (Though I would have happily-chosen the girl from the bread shop in episode 1 without a moment's hesitation!!!)

QUOTE (Knorris908 @ Oct 5 2015,1:54 AM)Just freakin' AWESOME is allAlso over-the-top ep'2 when Saitama beats Mosquito girl at once easily, but not a single minion of hers so 'mosquitos... suck' ¬¬' contrary to Genos who now is his sidekick, talking non-stop xD i look forward more hero and villain teams

So we have Genus, not to be confused with Genos, who I thought might be tied to his backstory, but doesn't seem to be. And the secret to Saitama's power is...

Genos' reaction was freakin' perfect! It was like a perfect setup for a tsukkomi that the writer had been waiting for. Can't wait for the first, "Serious NORMAL PUNCH!" I'll probably spit out my Cheetos or whatever else I'm eating when it happens.

100 situps, 100 pushups 100 squats...

As much as I love the zaniness of this series, I truly wish there was an alternate universe where Saitama ACTUALLY has to fight like he did in his fight against the subterraneans. (The first set.) That was freakin' EPIC!

Hey Writers, WHAT'S THE DEAL?!?!? They did the same thing with "The Devil Is A Part-Timer". The opening of the first episode was totally epic, and then... ROM-COM. While I liked it, WHAT A LETDOWN after seeing what they were capable of with those opening scenes. Same thing here. Now that I've seen that fight sequence, I want a series that does THAT. It would surpass Dragon-ball (any version) Toriko, or One Piece as the premier battle anime/manga in my book. And the music rivaled FairyTail for elevating the excitement and personal investment in the battle.

Whining ends here. Love the show so far, and looking forward to next week's episode!

Spopovich?

I'm giving OPM a chance since I am a shounen fan. The production and action scenes are excellent, the humour for me is very hit and miss. Despite the seinen tag, I find it all very juvenile. I mean the first episode with the kid that has a butt for a chin...was that suppose to be funny? I can appreciate a dick/fart joke but there has to be some kind of context to it for me to laugh. I dont find random shit like a crabman funny.

I guess I just have a darker sense of humour.

Regardless, I'm interested to see where this goes. There is a reason why characters do not start off OP and while the "comedy" is suppose to distract from the fact, I wonder how they will keep the premise fresh. If not, it will just devolve into a go nowhere slice of life comedy.

Butt for a chin? I was thinking balls. That would lead to "ball-chin" which has a completely different, and "darker" connotation which is where I thought the joke was going....

Don't disagree with you though. Not every gag is a hit with me either. And personally, I'd be even happier, if the show was a 24 minute slug-fest with 2 minutes or so of exposition and setup. (I watch a LOT of shows that focus on story development and character growth, so this would be a welcome departure from them.)

Overall though my biggest complaint with each episode is that they end. ;-)

Enjoying it for what it is overall.

This episode was really interesting for me. I thought ep 8 was pure trash filler. The fights and everything was top notch but I wasnt invested simply because there was no tension. Why do I care about these filler heroes when there is a man out there that can end the fight in one punch. The fact that Sai didnt end it in ep 8 made me feel I had wasted 30 mins of my life.

In ep 9, Genos vs DSK, again visually excellent but no tension and when Sai finally does turn up and ends it in one punch, it was played for laughs but I found it very annoying. It was everything I feared when I decided not to pick up the manga 2 years ago because the premise sounded dumb.

Then the episode took a right a corner for me when that guy who is pretty much the embodiment of a snarky online troll questions Saitama victory... and Saitama plays up his image as a glory hunter. This resonated with me in terms of the clash between greatness vs expectations based on reality. I.E Saitama is so great that he is looked down upon with scorn cynicism and scrutiny because he makes everybodyelse feel like shit. If Saitama had struggled against DSK like Genos did but came out victorious, people would have accepted him as a true hero because they would have seen his flaws (just as they did with Mumen Rider) and flaws are relatable.

In the end, Saitama is aware that he makes people feel bad about their lack of power and helplessness so like a true hero, he gives the public what they need to not feel so bad about themselves. So despite the fact that I feel the lack of tension is a huge problem for this anime, this episode made me invested in Saitama as a character which is far more important.

One thing I can say about OPM final episode is the animators were sure having alot of fun. The last time I saw this kind of giddy animation from Madhouse was Redline...meaning they really believe in this series. As an exhibition for action in anime OPM is impeccable, as a story it is very disappointing.

When I think about the best fights in shounen's/seinen...let says Frieza vs Goku as the archetype...I'm thinking about the context as much as the actual fight itself. I dont know how others are doing it but I struggle to divorce the fact, just the existence of Saitama is universe breaking. All this is perfectly fine because OPM is essentially a gag manga, subverting and parodying the action superhero genre and it would be great if I found it funny. The humour essentially boils down to how non-chalant can we make Saitama look in the of face absurd danger. Ofcourse, I do smile when they play those scenes but it is totally one note and forgettable.

By far my favourite episode was the latter half of episode 9 which proves this series is capable of saying something when it wants to but mainly is about cheap thrills.

6/10.

A very enjoyable series on a superficial level.

while DBS keeps retelling Resurrection f, I found OPM refreshing despite flaws

One Punch Man (TV series preair and 12 episodes) Summer to fall 2015 - 7/10
OPM: Road to Hero & specials (unaired Prequel · 6 Mini OVAs) fall 2015 - 6/10

Im so impressed by Mob 100. I did not expect it to develop the way it did. Most of the characters exude a unique charm particularly Mob and Reigen.

I'm really just blown away at how it elevated throughout the series length. I dont know if OPM becomes more interesting and nuanced but for now I definitely consider Mob 100 ONE's most accomplished work.

Cannot wait for the finale and it has been a long time since I've felt that way about an anime.

OPM2, more interesting with Garou... and King credited by Saitama's deeds xD

for me S2 does, despite Madhouse isn't animating it unlike S1 and both Mob :(

Just finished the sub version of S2... I still like the comic aspect of the character.. they added in the sympathy for the 'human monster' guy... which is rather typical as well... so far they haven't taken it into the psyopathic type like the live action 'Joker' playing currently, and getting good reviews all around for the exposure of the genre with the exposure of the real 'villain' type.... or so the reviews have it.

They added drama to this series... touches of background story development here and there... but nothing on the MC and his abilities... saw the OVAs... not much more in them except that he seemed like a normal guy... they brushed over that period of change when he went bald... and transformed into what he is now.... was it some Spiderman thing, a bite from a monster or what? Nothing so far. I think they'll have to say something soon or it gets too repetitive... though they are concentrating on all the other characters, which are way more developed.... outside of the MC storyline in the OVAs.... big gap there that's left unexplained, leaving you pretty much where we were already, no explanation on his 'power', where it really came from. It seems that almost all of S2 has been developing the other characters.... placeholder season almost as the human monster Garo powers up again to do his thing again. I wonder if the mangaka has really explained it in the manga yet? If not, it's going to get tiresome and repetitive. His Charlie Brown self doesn't really seem to fit what we saw of him with hair in the OVAs.. skipped over as I said earlier... but I still like the series..... I hope it explains more in the next season, which I don't doubt there will be... seems to be setup for a long run, but if they don't explain more by S3, I'll probably tune out. Nice side character development of 'King' though... as with the others... .just nothing more really on our MC.
