Ecchi-Haven came about when I sorted my wallapper collection out one day and started distroing it on IRC in a well known chan (500+ users at any time) I am a lover of ecchi yet i have a what seems to be a very strict definition. Ecchi in my mind means "sexy" or "hot". However it does not mean nudity, sex, or anything overly objectional. This is not the case when it comes to other places. I have a Wife and 2yo step daughter, I don't need that stuff out all over.

Now heres the catch, I am terminally afraid that someone with more time and resources will steal my idea. Ecchi-Haven is to me the bological daughter I never had, my closest of pet projects. It keeps me awake at night, and sends chills down my spine. I kind of got in over my head so my revolutionary concept has stalled and my nightmares began.

Now for the explination:

Ecchi-Haven IS in development, a rather stalled one at the moment. We offer a "selected" ecchi gallery. I browse the many imageboards and anime communitys and collect the highest quality wallpapers I can find. They get run through a complex purging process based on content, quality, resolution, and appropiatenes. Then they get divvied up into respective categorys. I upload them and people can enjoy going to a nice family and work save wallpaper site without worries.

Eventually we plan on offering an image board based on user metadata (tags) Fansub and domesic release reviews. Fansub episode quality comarisons, and some other miscellanious ecchi related things. However my webdesign and scripting skills are minimal, I joined the Army right after highschool and have no colledge. I teach myself everything as I go along, or I take online distance learning classes. I currently depend on my staff of volunteers to assist me impliment my grand designs. Since it is volunteer the going is, well slow.

I do hope you enjoy my project, and if you feel you want to be on the team, your welcome to apply at the forums. I do ask that you use your best judgement when it comes to spreading the word, I really do not want to go "public" until I feel E-H is ready, so consider yourselves lucky!

The URL is simple please follow the link below.

Ecchi-Haven

MY PERSONAL THANKS: FTV and its staff, Your site ans forum has been an inspiration to myself and i regard the operation and method of FTV to be the best example of utmost professionalism and progressive thinking.

And then the loli-god appeared before me and showed me the true path of otaku slash ecchi loving. Please tell me that section of the gallery is not a dream! Stepping into heaven is no longer a dream! YESSSSS

I am so glad you are so enthuastic, I do apologise for the weak site layout, sometime soon we will have a CSS with news and other nifty stuff, but I am unable to do that sort of thing. This is why E-H is currently recruiting members for an expierenced web team. I pay with resources, If you need a Ruby on Rails refrence, i can get you one, I only ask that you work on the project with your heart put into it.

I'm not really a great ecchi fan to be honest but can help since there is nothing i can do for AB syndicate yet.........Well to the point, I havent actually made a website by myself but if u like i can help u make some logos, buttons, banner, etc anything graphical that can be done photoshop

The Idea had occured to me, however recently E-H has taken great strides in a "bold" (ahhaaha inuendo? noway!) direction. For those of you who are harcore coders, stay away, we are switching to a CMS! Oh Gawds!

I was rummaging through my Cpanel for my hosting company when I stumbeled across "one click installs" In it was Joomla! CMS. Earlier i had been turned away from webGUI because my hoster does not support mod_perl. So since Joomla comes on reccomendation of my excelent Host, I decided to give it a whirl. It is everything we wanted, expected ad quite more actually.

Test Joomla! Install

The above link contains my feeble attempts at understanding the system. So far I feel about 30% confident with it, but we will still push for the 20th as the install date. Now for our plans.

I hate debris and hangers-on so we plan on "steralizing" the domain, erasing everything. Those of you appauled at the though of about 2000 wallpapers totaling 900mb in size being wiped out, have no fear, I have a local backup and several others non-locally. Then we shall get joomla at least operational, and start to warp it to our needs. Then the gallery goes up. Currently we are stumped as wethere to use Coppermine or Gallery2, both have excelent bridges for Joomla! Next up comes the forums. I decided on Simple Machines Forum, mainly because I am used to it, It has excelent bridging options again, and my PHP coder is familiar with teh internals for future moding. That completes what I call the "core"

Next come the "expiremental Periferals". The way the CMS is set up is PERFECT for an application of user reviews. A user writes the review, and editor edits it, and a publisher can choose wether or not to publish it. I have great aspirations to apply this to a "Fansub Report Card" critically and fairly gauging the quality between fansubbers if more than one is distroing a series. Screenshots and all mind you. Very exciting stuff. Less exciting is the idea of series reviews, placed while the series is running giving a DYNAMIC impression of the series! o_O Yes yes, my brain is bursting! Along with the other expirements I was hoping for an image gallery. One based off of user inputted meta-data, a tagging system if you will. However one problem. My main revenue produced will be through Google Adsense, or Google ads, if you are an end user. Specifically stated, I cannot distro copyrighted items on my site if I use Adsense. But minitokyo.com does it all the time, blatantly, and they have google adsense. Probabbly why they are so adamant about "not my scan" and "source" compared to the past. So we shall see what happens there. Besides the fact that an image board would DRAIN my precious bandwidth and potentially eliminate my webspace too. So it is pretty low on the list unless I can sove one of the aforementioned problems.

Again I appreciate all FTV and its staff ahve done, either through motovation, or direct advice. I appreciate all and everyones comments, opinions and input.

EDIT: To those of you intrested in helping with the project, I have a few requirements. They are as follows.

Motavation - Have your heart in what you are doing, I have had to deal with too many very skilled, unmotavated people on this project. They have since been purged.

Free Time - You can be motavated 24/7, but if you cannot get out of class/work you are doing the project no good.

An Inner Love of Ecchi - If you do not like it, you would not do well. Just as you would not hire a PC lover to work on a MAC, I would not want an ecchi anime hater on the team.

And it is a TEAM, I may be unskilled in the arts of web design and administration but I am learning. I organise everyone and everything, help where needed, and throw around my weight. If you can handle a peer working envyroment your by all means welcome.

We will be looking for photoshop people, mainly because we have to whip up a new theme and ditch the default. This also means some CSS work. That should give you a heads up as to what skillsets we are currently looking for. Applying and contacting are easy, its done on IRC. This is because 100% of the current staff use IRC, and we all have different prefrences for messengers. The connection info is as follows:

Server: irc.immortal-anime.net
Chan: #Ecchi-Haven

Speak to anyone above "voice" or the plus sign, they are all staff. I am on night shift so my schedule may or may not line up with yours.

Again, I am deeply indebted to you all, the FTV community as a whole. My eternal thanks.

Hmmm was I called

But the method you use to develop this is not really important. The AB Syndicate is not there to tell you what to do. We are there to share ideas and experience.

I'll try to drop by your IRC channel when I get a minute to tell you about it some more.

lol right click save has been my best freand now

i now need to pass protect the files from stealing freands ^^

Well The site has been running un-supervised by me for about 2 weeks now. My job is very full time at the moment, and the best I could do was check my email, then rack out for 8 hours before the cycle repeated itself. Sometimes less than 2 hours of sleep were the norm. This was compensated by unintentionally falling asleep during work, thank god I can't be fired...

Anyhow, today I had a few moments to spare, in my first random-day-off caused by a work stoppage due to lack of parts. As a result I have implemented a feature that I felt was necessary from the very beginning. After a brief struggle due to me not realizing that a parameter had to be the file system directory and not the relative one, which honestly made no sense to me at the time. So as a result we have a random image from coppermine displayed on the Joomla front page. At first it was just a single image, subtitled with the authors name, and a little ad for the module. With my ever growing knowledge of how PHP works, and the manual for CoppermineFetch, I managed to rework it into a single column 3 pictures high, captioned with the album it came from, and no advertisements. A major triumph if I do say so myself. It was soo easy, I am considering rewriting the code a little to make the module way more versatile to the average user.

As for the next feature on the horizon, I envision an imageboard, the exact methodology of implementation remains my secret however.

QUOTE (chiisai_hana @ Nov 11 2006, 11:10 PM) Like the new layout. If you ever have extra time (

) I think it would be more organizational to have the ecchi sorted by series when known, as well as by style. It also helps users find more images from that series when they like the art.
Another thing is, you can you tag system like: pantsu, smiwsuit, FMP, Kanami Chidori
for every single pic. And then make a search engine, that searches among all those tags.

Its actually in the works. I have been avoiding it as of late because installing such a system is up and beyond my skill level. If I were to do such a thing I would risk damaging my entire domain beyond repair. I would have to follow someones step by step guide, and that could be potentially dangerous. This is a main reason I am trying to recruit a base level staff again.
