I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but recently I've found Fansub TV's site being 'highjacked' by www.jackpotcity.com. What happens is that the Fansub TV page opens, then a few seconds later is redirected to jackpotcity, an on-line casino type site. But there is no way back to Fansub TV from ths site. It also seems to be one of those anti-social sites that disable the browser 'back' button.

This doesn't happen every time, or I wouldn't be writing this, I had to keep trying to visit Fansub TV until I got a connection that stayed here. The redirects to Blinx provide a way back to Fansub TV and do not cause any problems.

When the ad page loads, does it fade and say that this site is sponsored by Jackpotcity.com? If it does than it could be an ordinary ad of Fansub TV in which you have to press the back to FTV on the upper right corner of the browser.

If not you might have to run your anti-virus and make sure you don't have a browser hijacking program in your pc. I've also had an instance where an ad that loaded from this site nearly gave me a trojan horse
so be careful

this happens to me too - and i've run a virus check many times and nothing comes up (i have Norton 2007) so i cant be that my virus defintions are not uptodate.

I don't think this is a virus. Two reasons, this popup problem only occurs when browsing this site. If it were a virus it would go off randomly. Second like samthebear my anti-virus software (McAfee) is up to date yet doesn't detect any viruses. If it were a real virus I am sure at least one of these programs would have detected it.

It is true the popups can be a bit much. Send a PM to daft27, perhaps they can remove the offending ad.

It is USUALLY a sure way of fixing a problem I'll give you that. But there are several disadvantages and should be used as a last resort. I don't really think formats are required. Yet...

I just had a few nice little trips to http://www.zipcodeautoinsurance.com/ which took me straight to http://www.jackpotcity.com/casino/eng/index.aspx?trd=1&MU=xp. WooHoo! Free trips available courtesy of AdBrite everyone!

We should be patient. I'm sure that our dear leader Daft will inform AdBrite about the customer that is abusing their service and they will deal with those who are not following their Advertiser Acceptable Use Policy.

Bear in mind that if you permanently block the ads then Daft will be, as someone once stated, "a sad panda". No ads = no money to support Fansub.TV. Ads are the reason why the site is able to expand and remain free.

The banner that was showing at the time was the oh so tasteful "Spicy or Sweet" singles ad.

Firefox with adblockplus extension is a good way to get around it. I notice that my computer lagged when it tried loading the home page, but I remained on the home page.

I recommend trying this for the moment if you haven't already done so. Go back to whatever browser once the problem is confirmed fix though since we need the ads to support the site still.

No, there's no "sponsored by" message and no "back to Fansub TV" button of any sort.

My anti-virus is up to date but as others have commented, if it was a virus it wouldn't only happen when I visit Fansub TV, it would happen when visiting other sites as well.

It hasn't happened for the last couple of visits, so perhaps it's sorted itself out. Time will tell I guess.

I was able to remove the advertisement for zipcodeautoinsurance... but unfortunately it doesn't really prevent them from putting up new advertisements under a different name.

on a related note, sometimes the ads that redirect me to a different page with the skip ad button at the top crash my firefox. I have been unable to determine the exact cause.

Were you able to identify which ad was causing this problem?

Thats the funny thing, I can load up fansub 4 times or something and if the same ad appears if might error 1,2,3 or all 4 times, crashing firefox. I've checked and am all up 2 date with every little thing I might need, yet this still happens. These same ad types appear on other websites I visit but it doesn't occur there. It might be the ads that contain videos or somesuch, sorry I can't be of more help

I would like to add my voice in crackle ads sucking on firefox... Always crashes...

ok... I just had crackle crash firefox 4 out of 5 times.

...of course I've had other ads crash occasionally crash things too. Hopefully whatever the problem is, firefox 3.0 fixes it.

Might as well add my name to the list. A while ago it was mola that was crashing firefox, but that hasn't happened for a little while. Most recently is the crackle add that crashed my firefox yesterday and today.
