if your talking about bang for buck; then you should get the wii. It's the cheapest of the systems, and personally I find it the most fun; it's great for parties or playing with friends - and very shortly Smash Bros Brawl will be out! If the wii aint your thing though, then the XBOX is the better. You can get it at around the same price range and cheaper than the PS3, and it has a better game line up and more game selection.

Yeah the Wii is best price wise and it has some great games. Although I hear the Wiimote does get tedious to use after a while on some games. Still I wouldn't let that bother me.

360 is second best. It not all shooters and Madden games like the PS3 fanboys would lead you to believe.

exactly, you should take advantage of this holiday season and get a Xbox 360: Go Pro Bundle for $350 with two free games like Forza2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I'm sure that by boxing day prices of games are going to be very cheap and lots of selections to pick from

Oh God! Thank you! I was planning on staying out of Black Friday but now that you have alerted me to these deals and steals I'm going to be very busy indeed.

Whoever says PS3 is crap don't know what they are talking about.

Keep in mind when you are talking about the 360... it came out on November 2005. They had two years when the other two, PS3/Wii had 1 year. Although Wii makes the Xbox 360 look like nothing in sales in what it sold in a year. That just makes Microsoft cry.

I'm not saying Wii is the perfect system but with its motion controller, who wouldn't want to try it?

Here is the statistics of the three consoles in one year with the exception of Xbox 360 because it is 2 years.

PS3 is quickly rising from the bottom in weekly sales and if this keeps up. It will surpass the Xbox 360. Wii on the other hand will remain king of consoles, but its technology is last gen. Only way it made it to the top was its next gen motion controller which 360 lacks. The next gen consoles would be Xbox 360 and PS3.

As of November, 2007

year1copypv3.jpg

As you can see from the chart, Xbox 360 was released in November 2005 and to November 2006 it didn't break 6 million. Meanwhile looking at PS3, it is equal to Xbox 360 and almost close to breaking 6 million which will be next week.

You can see that within this year.. the 360 wasn't very high until the summer.

Reason why Ps3 is increasing in sales is because of the release of the 40 GB at $399.

Now you ask yourself this question... at the rate PS3 is going... do you think it will increase in sales faster than the Xbox 360 in 2 years? The answer is yes. As you can see... 2 years has passed for the Xbox 360 and they are at 13 million. So Xbox only increased this year by 1 million. Last year they sold 6 million with this year 7 million. Total of 13 million.

You ask yourself... wow.. thats it? they only went up 7 million this year? they really didn't move up much of sales compared to 2006 which was 6 million. Take a look at the Nintendo Wii sales.. they make the 360 sales look like nothing. IN ONE YEAR IT SOLD 14 MILLION WHEN IT TOOK XBOX TWO YEARS TO SELL 13 MILLION CONSOLES

I believe the second year PS3 will break 13 million with at least 15-18 million total in PS3's second physical year. There is no way PS3 is going to slow down with the games it has to offer next year. Xbox has nothing to back them up. The only thing they had was Halo 3 and I am pretty sure they won't have a Halo 4 coming out next year.

Wii on the other hand will increase and increase because they are always out of stock of Wii's and with the Wii Fit coming out next year... there is no way Nintendo is going to stop. Probably end up with 30-35 million consoles sold its second year.

I have no idea how much Xbox 360 will be at for the third year, but its for sure going to be under the Nintendo Wii. Seeing how last year was 6 million, this year was 7 million, next year 8 million? lol. At least 22-25 million its third year?

But yeah, at the rate things are going. PS3 will rise in 2008 and take over Xbox 360 by 2009. I have seen nothing done to improve their console sales.

Most Anticipated Games to boost sales

Nintendo
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy

PS3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Gran Turismo 5

XBOX 360
Gears of War 2?
Halo Wars
no clue, since I lack Xbox game knowledge or have interest in any, but feel free to say any that you may think will be highly anticipated of this year.

Ok lets look at the previous gen consoles

Total Sales
Gamecube: 21.63 million
Xbox: 24 million
PS2:110 million

lastgenqd3.png

As you can see... even if PS3 is losing right now... they have gained a lot from the previous gen+PSP sales. And since GC has lost last gen, they are gaining a lot from the new gen+DS sales. Xbox is nowhere near the winner if you add all these up, they don't even have a handheld console.

Here is what I think:

Wii will remain #1 in sales during its whole lifetime of sales in the next gen
PS3 will rise in 2008 and take second place in 2009.
Xbox 360 will be in third place and release more FPS games and remain popular in the US .

whenever i hear someone say "wii is last gen" i grit my teeth. just because its games don't look as pretty does it mean it's technologically behind the others? if it's just about raw power then there's no point in making consoles, since a home pc soon becomes more powerful and versatile than them.

things like the DS, the wii remote and perhaps the wii balance board (i'm yet to see how well it can be used for games) are, in my opinion, the biggest leaps forward in the concept of console gaming, making them the current gen technology. they allow for better games without escalating production costs. it's just a shame that so many developers are rushing their terrible efforts instead of actually trying to make a decent game out of the new technology.

yes I agree the motion controller for the wii is next gen, thats why they are on top of this generation's sales. The games itself... I'd say they are comparable to last gen's if it didn't have the motion controller. They aren't graphically beautiful like PS3 or Xbox 360 but the games are more fun on Wii. Also the DS with the dual screen and touchscreen makes it the top selling handheld also.

All about new ideas/inventing new ways to play and Nintendo wins by doing that. Anyone know when Wiifit will be coming out? I want to try playing that.

Nintendo wii owns all. PS3 is just WAY too expencive and runs on BLue-Ray, which is already being phased out in japan in Favor of HD DVDs.

QUOTE (Shinobu's_Lover @ Jan 08 2008, 12:36 PM) runs on BLue-Ray, which is already being phased out in japan in Favor of HD DVDs.
But that appears to be the latter in the US as now the majority of large movie production companies have switched to exclusively Blue-Ray.

The PS3's starting to make a comeback as well! they're slowly and steadily catching up and the price of PS3's are now much more affordable.

UK price for a 40GB version's less than a 360 elite.... i think! The PS3's potential also outweights all the other consoles for now and in a way i think it's better that sony have made the PS3 more than a games console and it can be said that it's a true multimedia device

Yeah the Wii can push that many units because it undersells the 360 and the PS3 by a significant amount of money.

Plus did you ever think that the 360 being out for a year did nothing to help it. I think most people played a wait and see game until all the systems were on the market. Thats what I did. And say what you will about the 360 but it sells software while I'm under the impression the Wii has lagging game sales in proportion to the number of systems sold. Although the Wii gets a lot of crappy games from 3rd party developers.

Why are you even comparing the Wii and 360? Nintendo stated long ago that they were not in this fight. Hell thats because they have already won it. The game now is a bitter fight for second place between the 360 and PS3.

Your list of Wii games is missing No More Heros and for 360 I'll share a list of stuff thats caught my eye and its not even anywhere near being complete. I didn't even include Live Arcade games.

Fable 2, Borderlands, Brutal Legend, Fallout 3, The Club, Dark Sector, Dead Space, Dead Island, Fracture, Halo Wars, Interstellar Marines, Infinite Undiscovery, Legendary: The Box, Army of 2, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Mobile Ops: The One Year War, Precursors, Voodoo Nights, Too Human, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Prototype, Rainy Woods, Theseis, Left 4 Dead, Saboteur, Soulcaliber 4, The Last Remnant, Hail to the Chimp, Alan Wake, Mortal Kombat 8, Iron Man

Yeah not all of those are 360 exclusive but its getting them and yeah while its got some shooters or games that feature firearms it also has fighters, RPGs, racing games, and a few real time strategy games.

Oh wait PS2 came out before the X-box its cheating! Thats the only reason it sold more. Or maybe the fact a lot of PS2s died and had to be replaced. Or the fact its still alive and well and getting games not allowing the PS3 to grow. Or what about the fact that the X-box was Microsoft first console? They were new to the game while Sony had already been learning the tricks of the trade.

Also might I ask why Microsoft is being bashed for not having a handheld? Maybe they saw the beating the PSP was taking and didn't want to climb into the ring with Nintendo.

One last thing, you are missing teh m0s7 imp0rta|\|t ch4rt.

I don't see how people can relates Nintendo Wii with other consoles, when it's goals are totally different from the others. Nintendo is aiming for the wide-range ages market that even elders can play, the so called "casual gaming". Pick up the controllers and start playing, that's the direction Nintendo is going at. I really see the competition is between Sony and Microsoft, since they are going for the same market (the HARDCORE gamers). I don't think the consoles war will be over soon, before many believes that 2008 will have a less impact in the gaming industry than 2007. Also about the whole which console is better issue, PS3 is going for the "It's the ultimate media experience" and X360 is still going with "the best online experince with the Xbox LIVE".

Sony is losing in America because Microsoft had established a HUGE installed base before PS3 was released, it will take some time for it to gain some ground in the competition. But if you look at Europe, most of the countries like Germany are supporting PS3 for some reason. That's because Europe is closer to the Asian countries like Japan and Hong Kong which the installed bases are bigger than the U.S. in percentage.

Also, LOL vgchartz!

hey.. someone has to know these information. I just piled them together out of boredom.......

Yes... Sony is aiming for the ultimate gaming experience and Xbox for online experience. Wii is just aimed towards everyone so they are all in different fields of their own. But they are still gaming consoles...

Wii is on a league of their own so there is no way the other two can catch up to Nintendo. I think 2008 would be a big year for PS3 since the developing kit was cut in half. Sooner or later PS3 will catch up to the 360 since the 360 seems more popular in the USA than in Japan. I'd say 2009 is the year thats going to change.. you watch!

Oh yes Smokie.... I think you are a Xbox fan due to your arguments? I was just showing the numbers but it seems you can't face them~ Oh well at least I can use the same argument and say PS3 was released a year later and thats cheating! haha.

In time all will be revealed! We just have to wait a few years.

Okay, I'll just throw this out there in reference to the comments about the PS2 coming out before the XBOX and the XBOX 360 coming out before the PS3 - and it's related affects etc.

Last Gen Consoles:
The Playstation 2 was released in Japan on: March 4, 2000
The Playstation 2 was released in the US on: October 26, 2000
The XBOX was released in Japan on: February 22, 2002
The XBOX was released in the US on: November 15, 2001

Now, the difference between release dates of the PS2 and XBOX:
Playstation 2 was released 1 year, 11 months and some days before the XBOX in Japan (almost TWO years)
Playstation 2 was released 1 year, 1 months, minus some days before the XBOX in the US (~year)

This Gen Consoles:
The Playstation 3 was released in Japan on: November 11, 2006
The Playstation 3 was released in the US on: November 17, 2006
The XBOX 360 was released in Japan on: December 10, 2005
The XBOX 360 was released in the US on: November 22, 2005

Now, the difference between release dates of the PS3 and XBOX 360:
The Playstation 3 was released ~11 months after the XBOX 360 in Japan.
The Playstation 3 was released ~12 months after the XBOX 360 in the US.

So, if you are going to start arguing about how release dates have an impact on amount of sales and so on, thats fine. However, for fayewong to counter with "the PS3 was released a year later and thats cheating" doesn't work. Fact is the PS2 was released 1-2 years before the XBOX; while the XBOX 360 was released only 11 months - 1 year before the PS3. That said, the XBOX system set is still lagging behind by a 1year margin in at least in Japan.

On another note; the argument that the 360 only sold 1 million more units in 2007 than 2006 - and stating it as a bad thing doesn't make sense. Fact is, their sales this year were more than their sales last year; and thats a good thing. The Wii will probably not sell all that many more units in 2008 than it did in 2007 - as more people who really want one buy them, less people want them, and sales go down.

Well thats a false statement right there. Have you noticed that its sold out everywhere? You saying its going down in sales so that means you are saying they will actually have the Wii's in stock? I don't think so. Everyone wants one but its always ALWAYS out of stock. Its not going down in sales anytime soon. Its just going to rise and I think it will slow down but still be way ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009.

With the help of Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Who would not buy a wii to play it? This game will sell Wii like crazy like Halo 3 did with Xbox.

I never said that it wouldn't sell ~_~ I said that the console will probably not sell that many more units in 2008 than it did in 2007. In 2007, it sold 19.4 Million units (your number); I'm saying that in 2008, it's not like it'll sell an additional 35 million units; it'll probably sell around 20 million (give or take 2 mil).

oh my mistake. When I said 35 million I meant total with the first years. Not 35 million in one year alone. My mistake for confusion.

uhhh...I think you...misunderstood...again...
You never said 35 million...
I am saying that the Wii will not sell 35 million units in year 2008 (35 million was an arbitrary number picked due to it's extraordinarily high value). It is likely to sell around 20 million units - give or take 2 million. That being said, it would only have an increase of 1-3 million units sold in a year as compared to 2007 sales. This is comparable to the sales of the XBOX 360, which had a increase in sales in a year equaling 1 million(ish).
You previously stated that the XBOX 360 "only" had an increase of 1 million units sold in 2007 as compared to 2006. I am saying that an increase of 1 million units sold is good, not bad. Typically, most products tend to sell many units initially, and then the sales per year drop every year.

so I was watching the CES convention thing in Las Vegas... my city... and it was talking about Bill Gates last day at CES... I couldn't help but notice the guy says "rich" every now and then. God was that so annoying.. we know you were the richest man on the earth but use another new word now and then? haha

Its was similiar to the 2004 Gameshow I saw of Microsoft... they would always use celeberties in their announcements.. what does that have to do with your business? NOTHING haha. But yeah... the thing I meant to say is that when they started talking about the Xbox 360... I couldn't help but laugh... when they said.. we sold 17 million consoles then the next chart showed Xbox 360 at #1 and Wii at #2... I was like.... GOD that is false information right there! haha. I think they meant in USA only. But this year Wii will overtake Xbox 360 in sales for the USA. Nintendo is just a few million off Xbox's number.

Go WII FIT!

and later for PS3... GO HOME! (pun intended) ROFL!
