Aim for the Top 2

Personally I loved the original Gunbuster movie and after watching this I'm kinda disappointed. It's replaced the seriousness with FLCL maddness People died in Gunbuster, here people can still breathe in space

The animation was ok tho if you liked Big O style mechas, but like I said if it had kept a more serious tone, maybe closer to Evangelion then FLCl it would have been as good as the latest Ghost in the Shell stuff

That's what Aim for the Top 2 is about. The original gunbuster was done in 1986-89 and has a totally different feel compared to this series. It had high school girls that go into space, watch them practice in practice machines before going out to fight the enemy. Watching them freezing out in fear and watch the senior members get killed trying to help her.

In comparsion we get to see a girl go into space with no ship/robot and smack the alien with her bare hand FLCL style :/ It's just wrong The only thing that could be remotely linked back to Gunbuster maybe Mecha entrance theme, tearing of clothes and OTT attack names (the lightening kick!!)

Well, I never saw the original--maybe that's why I like it.

The quality of the anime is very good, it is similar in feel to FLCL though it is slightly less crazy, thought this was only the first episode so who knows.

Have to wait and see for the story line, but so far everything else points to this being a really good series.


Oh yeah, so far it is about this girl who dreams of being a space pilot, but her dreams seem far off/impossible until she meets a "real" space pilot who has this amazing power called "topless"--by the end of the show the character who is dreaming seems to have a sort of "topless" power of her own and it seems like she might get somewhere with it.

if its more like gundam, i'll definitely look forward to watch them
