Well, anime is a fast growing "industry" and many anime sites have special areas on their front pages which tells people what's happening in the "anime world", ie, latest news on anime such as new animes coming soon, etc. I understand that people make spearate threads asap on the latest news in the anime world, but it can be somwhat difficult to browse the forums and hunt down those threads. So why not post the most important facts which is presumed to be important on the front page in a nice area. The headings should be links which take you directly to the thread the info is on just like the popular section or recent topic section. This news area should only host important, relevant and recent info on anime in general or mabey even other important things, doesn't really matter, as long as it's something people would like to know if they've been away from the site for a while.

What do you think?

Do you think it will just be another useless section on the front page that will clutter FTV or do you think it would be useful and helpful?

This idea was already in the dream list that we want to be done. Right now, we're just reorganizing a few things just to an extent that we can moderate it, especially in the case of the forums. Everything is on hold so we may get to the point of adding some front-page news, something weekly or monthly directly from the FTV team members and/or sempais.

In short, don't expect a lot of things just yet. We altogether probably thought about almost everything you may have wanted. Till then, enjoy what you have with you right now, and we'll surprise you in a way.

Cool, can't wait for what the future has in store for FTV:) Guess, you guys don't need much advise

I will not pretend to sit here and be an active member in the development of FTV. Instead keep in mind that new features invariably involve man-hours of work. As I understand it much of the current man-hours are going into resolving the problem that is causing FTV to generate "Boo boo's". This feature is already on the "Wish List" as hamasusuke already explained. Now let me move on to playing devils advocate...

In relation to my quote above, you assume some sort of system that can determine the "Importance" of a news item. How would this be decided? Whatever method is chosen, again keep in mind the amount of work involved to implement such a system.

You mention a "nice" area. In my opinion, the front page is becoming extremely cluttered. Your average user would have to have a very large resolution monitor, and scroll a significant amount to view the information that he/she wishes to see. Where would this go?

How would the news be aggregated? Meaning, who provides the news? Users or some sort of content scanning system. If it is user submitted, how is authenticity verified? How is importance determined?

The reccomended anime screenshot thing on the main page could be a bit smaller and the latest anime youtube videos sidebar could be taken out completely, theres already a big list of anime videos in the middle of the page.

we already have the thread for "funny videos" how about we make a new thread displaying videos of those new anime trailer...

(this also have something to do instead of latest anime news)

so that people can get to know if whenever new trailer for anime(s) or ova(s) or etc. are available to watch. a specific thread showing new trailers would be much more easy to hunt... rather than put it in the existed anime thread...

what do u think? .. (or is it already exist here and i just don't find it?.. sometimes i might be just lazy... X))

All I can say is this, the Wolf approves of this idea.

I think it might be worth doing, and it may make it a bit easier on what's new and what's being licensed then to hunt down the foums to know when a series is licensed or not.

For the purposes of licensed anime, I think it could be an effective tool since it directly effects content on this site. However, I think it would require a revamp of the front page because it might get lost .... The "Recommendation" box keeps growing and pushing everything further down the page.

If the Licensed Anime Thread was locked so only mods could post officially announced series, then you could have it feed to the mainpage or something. But since a lot of other questions get put there now, I don't think that's the best solution.

But as it's been discussed, there are always ideas being thrown around to do something else with the main page. And there are anime news site all the users could watch, like ANN.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I never did imply of a sorting system to find the important news and post them on the front page news area. Sempais or Team members could gather the latest news during the end of the week or month and post them in the front page in a area devoted to news. A sorting system might be kinda difficult lol

And if space is a concern, like malfion said, why not remove the tube videos from the left side, since we do have more videos in the center. I don't think it's necessary to have 2 separate video sections devoted to new streams and anime music videos. So more space can easily be made if the home page is played around with. Just a suggestion if theres a space issue.
