Synopsis: Set in the land of Yggdra, the people thought that the land they live is the size of the world, but it’s actually divided into several areas, each with a respective king. Even though there were small wars among areas, the kings had roundtable meetings to maintain peace and balance. It was until a dark group of dark monsters appeared...

So, a few of the shows this season don't have threads, but I need to post a scathing review of hate on one so that people know better than to watch it.

Divine Gate. 3/10.

Easily a contestant for the worst anime this season, competing with Koukaku no Pandora and blowing past Phantasy Star Online 2 in their mutual race to the bottom. I managed to actually make it to the end of Divine Gate, while I relegated KnP to my "marathon if I'm bored" list.
xD so glad i dropped them, looking for a better series based on Sega games?;)

So, this is the one you mentioned? I'm not any monsters, unless they are the 'real' kind.... but the mangaka probably aren't really aware of them... hyperdimensional... outside our own realm, which they can 'visit' in a way, at times etc... in our minds more than our physical world... the 'angel's or 'beasts' on our shoulders whispering in our eyes... is the usual proverbial analogy... the 'beasts' in art..... representations of the 'ties that bind'... aetherically mostly.... as they prey upon our bodies through our minds and the biochemical affect our emotions begat.

That said, I'll check this out... it really comes down to the writing in any story... fantasy or the apparent real world... most of which we really don't know much about... it's said most college graduates know about 2% of what's really going on.

What is your opinion of this anime so far?

PS... seems this was from last spring or winter?... I started watching first ep... ? WTF!, they jump right into a battle scene as if it's the last ep of the cour... doesn't make sense at all... we don't know any of the characters or what's going on at all... not my ideal way to begin a story... no empathy for anyone... don't know any of them.. just a collection of tropes... so we are expected to cheer for the usual ones we like?
Finished first ep... this must be based on a game... one of the last fight scenes looked exactly like one... well, at least from the ads on tv that I've seen, never played them myself, got tired of video games long ago.. so this series is for the fans of the game already, and they don't need an intro... so the anime is just jumping right into it... which is ok for the fans of the game, not for those that haven't played it. Not sure i can watch much more... I'll let the next ep determine that.

Finished ep 2.... damn, this is very dependent on the original source material.. the game I think, right? it's like an edited version from the end of Book One... and they seem to be skipping material the fans already know to push it along... as if it knows there won't be another cour.

I'm a little interested in the group shared manna or chi aspect.... it's interesting how esoteric stuff finds its way into the exoteric... in this case the squaring principle... and beyond when dealing with numbers....

From such a source:
A: The effort would be extremely beneficial for all here particularly in terms of DNA and other benefits. But for global purposes the larger number is needed. The power increases exponentially with the addition of each person. Remember the saying: Wherever two or MORE (letters came slowly) are gathered...
I believe that reference was to the bible. There is some truth in it, just mostly in symbols the public aren't aware of for the most part... Lost knowledge... like the pyramids and circles such as found throughout the planet... Stonehenge etc... Energy or power projection.. in the development of 'social memory complexes' or any group of like minded individuals... along basic gestalt formation that the 'whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
So, I'm going to watch another ep or two in order to see if this principle is utilized in this anime or not.. it's what attracted me to anime again... finding a visualization of such principles... rare to see in any format.
But, I'm not expecting much... as it's like finding a needle in a field of haystacks... to use the old analogy.

If you aren't sure yet read this review, tropeish but to me it was a fun watch... movie-quality animation and music, btw its 8 mini eps are kind of 'season 1' :)

Ok.... finished the series of 12 eps... I see a 'short animation' of 46 minutes... S1?... very cliche... but the basics aren't bad, just so much like everything else.. which works, so they get repeated endlessly.... like most genres, I think it's best if they focus on the basics and don't try to put too much of everything in it.... this one keeps pulling out other fantasy elements from every other series before it... it's simply too much.... but the basics work because the foundation of genre and those tropes work... but like most, it needs a better storyteller.... otherwise, it's just a repeat of everything else.... watching this really makes that point rather clear.... shows me why some work and most fail... even if they aren't that bad, just generic to the genre... like this most definitely is.

I check the 'short' quickly, didn't see it... .well, didn't know what it was... thought it might be one of those chibi things that get boring.... but this is a game base, right? So, all of this is to be expected... the design team doesn't have the budget or creative time to really work on it... not when you have to churn out a new one every so often... business is business.

=====
Watching the 42? min 'short' intro to the series... I see what you meant by animation quality...the series was/is much better than this 'short'... which almost looks out of focus at times.... I watched the dub on the series.. this 'short' is subbed... but the same issues arise.... and it's the same with most projects these days... not that I know anime much, but it's mostly based in manga... as the LN's can be different, not that they are... but I don't read them... well once... that Haruhi series that wasn't made... this is based in a game i think... don't play them either... have looked at a few manga if the anime was good enough... like Ghost in the Shell... Hmmm.... I wonder if much of this problem in overdoing the genre's tropes and anime or manga tropes in general is that it's been building up for the last few decades? Seems the best ones are more original... .back to basics... the archetypes themselves and not all the derivative stuff that follows.... sort of like the Major Arcana without all the minor arcana... the astrological stuff added much later for quality psychic reader types to intuit....? This series, or game, is just throwing in every one imaginable and then some!... at least in the series.. it's simply too much... they should have cut it down to basics... IMO.
