Introduction:

The FTV League is the newest event on Fansub.TV. Basically you can think of it as something like the Saimoe Tournament only in league format. It will follow a similar format to the football leagues such as the English Premier League.

Detailed description
QUOTE - First we have a qualification phase where we pick 10 anime girls. For more information on the qualification phase please click here http://boards.fansub.tv/?showtopic=8639 . Afterwards the real league will start.

- 10 characters will participate in the league and there will be 9 match days. A match day will contain 5 matches where all 10 characters are competing in one versus one matches against each other (for instance Kagami vs Shana, Fate vs Saber etc...)

- Each FTV member can place one vote per match (in the terms of football one vote would be like one goal) so with 5 matches you have a total of 5 votes per match day.

- There will be 1 week between the different match days: 5 days to vote and 2 days to count the votes and update the standings.

- Point allocation: Win = 3 points; Loss = 0 points; Draw = 1 point for both characters.

- The winner of the league will automatically qualify for the next FTV league.

- The characters who finish in 2nd to 5th position will take part in a KO tournament. The winner of the KO tournament will also qualify for the next FTV league
I know it may sound a bit complicated therefore I have made a fictitious example for one match day with 6 characters where I explain the single steps.

Match Day 1

Match 1

rikaavanewa.jpg
vs.
hanyuuava2.jpg

Rika Furude vs Hanyuu

Jun says: Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Rika (Rika 1:0 Hanyuu)

For each match you have to decide which character you like more. If you have a favourite then you simply say your winner for this match. Since I like Rika more than Hanyuu I say Rika is the winner in this match. In terms of football(soccer) this means Rika scores a goal vs Hanyuu and is leading 1:0.

Other members can vote however.

Member A says: Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Hanyuu (Rika 1:1 Hanyuu)

In this case Member A likes Hanyuu more than Rika and says the winner is Hanyuu in this match. So in terms of football Hanyuu scores a goal vs Rika and it's a 1:1 now.

Member B says: Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Rika (Rika 2:1 Hanyuu)

Since Rika got another vote she now leads 2:1.

Member C says: Rika vs Hanyuu = draw (Rika 2:1 Hanyuu)

Member C cannot decide who he likes more therefore he says "draw" and no change in the vote/goal difference occurs.

Member D says: Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Rika (Rika 3:1 Hanyuu)

Rika got another vote she now leads 3:1.

In this example the match day is over and we have an end result for this match.

Result: Rika Furude 3:1 Hanyuu

Because Rika has won with a 3:1 score she gets 3 points while Hanyuu has lost meaning she gets 0 points.

Match 2

kagamiavanew2.jpg
vs.
primulanewava4.jpg

Kagami Hiiragi vs Primula

Here it is the same like in the previous match.

Jun says: Kagami vs Primula = Winner Kagami (Kagami 1:0 Primula)

Member A says: Kagami vs Primula = Winner Primula (Kagami 1:1 Primula)

Member B says: Kagami vs Primula = Winner Primula (Kagami 1:2 Primula)

Member C says: Kagami vs Primula = Winner Kagami (Kagami 2:2 Primula)

The time for this match day is over and we have an end result for this match.

Result: Kagami Hiiragi 2:2 Primula

Since it's a draw Kagami and Primula gain 1 point each.

Match 3

nanaohaavanew.jpg
vs.
fateava34.jpg

Nanoha Takamichi vs Fate Testarosa

Jun says: Nanoha vs Fate = Winner Fate (Nanoha 0:1 Fate)

Member A says: Nanoha vs Fate = Winner Fate (Nanoha 0:2 Fate)

Member B says: Nanoha vs Fate = Winner Nanoha (Nanoha 1:2 Fate)

Member C says: Nanoha vs Fate = Winner Nanoha (Nanoha 2:2 Fate)

Member D says: Nanoha vs Fate = Winner Fate (Nanoha 2:3 Fate)

The match day is over and we have an end result for this match.

Result: Nanoha Takamichi 2:3 Fate Testarosa

Fate wins and gains 3 points while Nanoha lost and gains 0 points.

Now that we have all results for this match day we have the following standing:

I hope this example has helped you understand the format FTV league will take a bit more. If still have any questions however, feel free to ask in this thread or me via pm
wink.gif

This thread is for the discussions of this event only for the actual league please use this thread.

Right now we are at the Qualification Phase so please visit this thread for further information.

The Qualification Phase is officially over. The votes are counted now and we will announce the results soon. If you still have to edit something on your vote then pm me until the 25th march 8pm gmt, and I'll include it in the counting.

Since we have 6 characters with each 8 votes on place 10, there will be a Qualification Play Off tournament between those six characters. Please click this link for further informations... http://boards.fansub.tv/?showtopic=8639&st=60&#entry264164

Tomoyo Sakagami has won the Qualification Play Off tournament. Now we have all 10 characters together, and if nothing unexpected happens then the league will start on the upcoming monday.

Jun-san! Wonderful work my friend. I want to congratulate you on all your hard work.

All the best and may the best girls win!

This is gonna be fun!

Too bad that a Clannad character will win without doubt >__<

Question: The characters participating in this league: are they going to be 'moe' characters (e.g. cute and usually rather young) or beauty? Or just various girls? Also, are we selecting winners based on who's cutest/prettiest or just on which character we like overall?

Reason I ask is because in many competitions like this, the character from the most popular series almost always wins - no matter what the voting is supposed to be based on (for example, if its about who's most moe, the most popular character from Naruto will win instead of the most moe character ever from some anime few people have heard of).

Second Question: Any chance we can also have each member make a bracket for how they thing each tourney is gonna go and person who gets closest gets a prize (like a unique userbar similar to the FTV awards)?

Edit: We'll be using polls to do the counts rather than actual user posts since the matches are just face-offs (3 options: character 1, character 2, tie) right?

It seems to just be favorite anime girls. Whether they are your favorite cause you all-around like them or find them to be super-moe is up to each person. I know I'm not a huge fan of the whole moe-thing so most of mine probably won't fit that type, though at the same time I would not be surprised in the least if most of the qualifying girls do fit that type.

QUOTE (dchaosblade)Question: The characters participating in this league: are they going to be 'moe' characters (e.g. cute and usually rather young) or beauty? Or just various girls? Also, are we selecting winners based on who's cutest/prettiest or just on which character we like overall?Well the only limitations are it has to be a female character and she has to have appeared in an anime. Whether it's going to be moe girls, lolis etc depends on the lists which the members post.

As for selecting winners, well in the actual league we have various matches like for instance this one

rikaavanewa.jpg
vs.
hanyuuava2.jpg

Rika Furude vs Hanyuu

so now each member has to decide which character he overall personally likes more, if you cannot decide then just say "draw"

so for instance

I say Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Rika ( Rika1:0 Hanyuu)

-> since I like Rika more than Hanyuu I voted for Rika in this case

Member A says Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Rika ( Rika 2:0 Hanyuu)

Member B says Rika vs Hanyuu = Winner Hanyuu ( Rika 2:1 Hanyuu)

okay this goes on and on until the time for the match day is over.

In the end we have something like this Result: Rika 8:4 Hanyuu.

Since Rika has won with 4 more votes she gains 3 points, Hanyuu on the other hand has lost and gains 0 points.
QUOTE (dchaosblade)Second Question: Any chance we can also have each member make a bracket for how they thing each tourney is gonna go and person who gets closest gets a prize (like a unique userbar similar to the FTV awards)? If you mean something like a prediction game, no something like that is not planned.
QUOTE (dchaosblade)Edit: We'll be using polls to do the counts rather than actual user posts since the matches are just face-offs (3 options: character 1, character 2, tie) right? Well it would work if we only had one match per match day, but we have 5 matches therefore we cannot do that via polls

Edit: Thanks Barbo.

Ah, I thought that each match would be a separate thread...OK, well, thanks for the responses - still kinda afraid that it'll just turn into a 1-sided popularity contest =/

Here's to hoping it wont though and it'll be fun. I look forward to the competition!

Will this league also spread out to other various categories, such as male chatacters, or even actual shows competing lols, best music, ect. I see this as a way to make voting more fun, this could grow to be a yearly fad where we have like multiple tournies for many different categories revolving around anime.

We thought about what to do with the male characters. Although there wasn't much of an outcry for it as of yet. Although the idea may happen, but it will take place separately from the current league so we can keep things simple.

As for the other ideas you have, we may do something like that if things go as well.

So is there a chance to add in the video game characters later on if things go overly well.

Hmm this sounds alot like character battles that i have seen over at another forum. Sounds great tho, i always thought maybe FTV needed one of those. I think we should have a polling station on front page for how long a particular battle is going to last or if not, a banner displaying the characters that are being voted and it being a link leading to the thread.

Ok so let get this one thing straightened out. What is with th eoverall standings since I'm kind of confused how that works. Is that so we don't have to do a single elimination match or something like that?

There is no KO elimination. This contest will follow a league format. The winning girl is the girl who has the most points at the end of the season. Every time a girl wins a contest they are awarded 3 points. If they tie it is 1 point for each girl. If a girl loses they get 0 points. It's a good way of prolonging the fun seeing as the main competition will only have 10 girls.
wink.gif
And it is usually a fairer way of deciding things. The problem with the KO rounds is any girl can easily be knocked by one surprise loss to someone.

I gotta mention this because this is kinda worrying me here... >.<; ...

But is anyone else concerned about all the first posters... applying their lists... for the first time on the forums? Will this be okay... or will there be something a little more... worth worrying about?

If someone could keep this in mind as we proceed through this process, I'd appreciate it a bunch. I just don't want to see someone I like for the contest get shoved aside for someone else...
tongue.gif

Indeed it seems that a good I/P check will be in order to make sure the voting is legitamate or not. I mean it seems we got a few people stuff the ballot box for the prelims. Since it is looking like that currently.

In any case to those people that tend to do that, please don't you'll make things harder to count up the actual votes. Also, this tends to slow the process of the League down. The reason for that is we have to null some votes for certain characters. This tends to make the process for the League to start to be delayed due to fraudlent voting.

- So please think about the others that want to be involved in this as well before you cause a voting scam.

Stuffing balots? Perish the thought Wolfie *hides the masses of Ilya votes in his pockets* She made me do it!!
Anyway, I hope we wont have any scandals for the league it's just supposed to be fun ad if your girl doesn't win there's always next season or you could apply to the organisers for a grudge match against one of her rivals as a special event
tongue.gif

I already know of a few grudge matches even though the league hasn't even started as of yet. Although they are mostly Type-Moon or Higurashi grudges. Also, from the looks of things we may get a grduge match right off the bat if Rika and Illya tend to go up against each other. Even Hanyuu might be the same thing as well for Illya. I'm only saying this since it might be a Loli Goddess Match-up if that happens, and I hope it happens.

Naaah keep cool guys. I'll keep my eyes open for any irregularities (well at least I try
tongue.gif
) and I also checked a few ips now but there was nothing suspicious.

Will this be okay... or will there be something a little more... worth worrying about?Hmmm.. I have no idea, but I wouldn't worry about that too much like I said I'll keep my eyes out.

Ah yeah but if anyone sees something odd or anything else then please post here or pm me, it would be a great help^^

Question: Who are the judges? They are only described as Jun, member A, B, C, & D. Are these other people in the contest?

Question: How are you gonna time when the matches are. There are 5 every day, right? I would be lucky to have 3 hours free in a 18 hour day. If I were to compete, would I be there with the judging?

Everyone is a judge. When the match starts, you post saying who you think is best, and that person gets a point due to your vote. Everyone else votes too, scoring points for who they think is best. Person who has the most votes at the end wins that match and gains the 3 point tourney score.

As for the matches, there will be 5 matches per week which last a week (allowing everyone on the forum a chance to cast their vote). So so long as you are available to post at any time during that week, you'll be able to cast your vote and score the points for your favorite character.
