We all know how much anime there was this year compared to last year (the large amount of Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 that ended this year). Therefore, I've decided to try something new this year and perhaps it will remain.

I will take nominations for the top 15 series based on everyone's top choices. Each person will put up to 15 animes (IN ORDER PLEASE!) of their favorite. The scoring system will come once I decide on it. Most likely it will #1 for each list will be 15 points, 2nd will be 14, etc... The top 14 series selected will move onto the final poll that will come on January 1, 2008.

This poll will close on December 30, 2007. If you wish, you may also provide a reason/comment on why thought one series was better than another. The idea of 2 polls sounds repetitive, but please remember that this is ONLY a test run.

You may change your list at any time UNTIL the date of the deadline!

Thanks to smokie, TMaelstrom, Hiroyuki for corrections

Fun things to do if you're bored:
1) See if you can spot/remember the longest anime series that ended in 2007
2) Should I post a link on the front page for other users who don't usually visit the forums and encourage them to participate?

All forum rules still apply.
Most important, have fun voting

1. Kanon 2006
2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
3. Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou: Tou
4. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Season 1
5. Code GEASS: Lelouch of the Rebellion Season 1
6. Claymore(for 20 episodes it was legend and I can't forget that, had it followed the manga till the end it would be number 2 or 3 right now)
7. Baccano!
8. Manabi Straight
9. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS
10. Juusou Kikou Dancouga Nova
11. Lucky Star

So many other shows also deserve to be up there but there were just too many good ones this year so competition is tough. Due to that I'm going to list other stuff I liked that didn't make the list, here goes Honorable Mention Blue Drop, Genshiken 2, Kaze no Shoujo Emily, Moetan, Minami-ke 1st Season, Myself; Yourself, Pumpkin Scissors, Shining Tears X Wind, Sisters of Wellber Season 1, The Skull Man, Sola, Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou: Tou Kenbu Hen There they are. Some were good but not great while others have not been subbed in their entirety and I don't feel I can judge well enough to place them on the list.

EDIT: FINAL

1. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann - Amazingly badass and fun characters (Kamina #1 character EVER!?!?!) and excellent FLCL-esque animation/comedy that I love
2. Baccano! - Made me discover how much I would love more animes to be involved during this time period in america, plus great characters, animation, and stories
3. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Absolute absurd and random hilarity at every turn
4. Kanon 2006 - One of the first to ever make me cry (Makoto anyone?)
5. Darker than Black - loved the action and animation
6. Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion - Lelouch is a genius surprising me all the time
7. Kiss Dum -ENGAGE PLANET- - I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who will vote for this at all, which is a shame
8. Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight - There's a reason I'm part of the MSFGFC
9. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - Signum.........need I say more? how bout awesome fights
10. Sketchbook ~full color'S~ - the perfect lay back, relax and laugh anime
11. Ghost Hunt - I don't think an anime has ever scared me like the Bloodstained Labrynth arc did
12. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai - more bloodstained killer lolis and parasitic outbreaks? sign me up
13. Lucky Star - KagamixKonota make the perfect opposite-comedic duo
14. ef ~A Tale of Memories~ - excellent animation effects and reminds me why I love Shaft so much
15. Toward the Terra - Compelling story of being afraid of that which is different and the importance of thinking for oneself

That's my list for now, but I might give it a revision before the deadline.

Edit 1 - Shuffled around my rankings and added/deleted some. Plus added little blurbs

1. Death Note
2. Claymore
3. Myself;Yourself
4. Tengen Toppa
5. Darker than Black
6. Code GEASS
7. Kaze no Stigma
8. Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi
9. Mushi-uta

12. Zero no Tsukaima ~Futatsuki no Kishi~
13. Busou Renkin
14. Da Capo II (D.C. II)
15. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

This was supprisingly tough, I knew GL would be #1 in my mind but everything else was a series of ties to me. Kinda neat looking at that list picking out all the stuff I watched, however it was quite difficult to sort it out (kept it to ten). I think I've got a pretty wide variety of things here.
1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
2. Darker than Black
3. Dennou Coil
4. Claymore
5. Heroic Age
6. Baccano!
7. Lovely Complex
8. Toward the Terra
9. Death Note
10. Genshiken 2
11. Naruto
12. El Cazador
13. Devil May Cry

edit: uhg forgot about claymore and devil may cry shall be 13 for now.

Definitely a tough choice to make for a few of them; I saw so many awesome anime this year.

1. Kanon (of course)
2. Sola
3. ef - a tale of memories.
4. Potemayo
5. Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!
6. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
7. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
8. Myself ; Yourself
9. Minami-ke
10. Seto no Hanayome
11. Lucky Star
12. Dennou Coil
13. Lovely Complex

There are others, but those ones are definitely the best of 2007 according to me, while a few of the others I think couldn't match up to those 13. Certain ones like this would be Death Note for one. I read the manga about 8 episodes into the anime so I already knew what was going to happen, and since they rushed through the second half of the series, plus the slightly different ending, I liked the manga more, so the anime, while very well done, was not one of my favorites from this year. Another would be Darker Than Black which I really enjoyed the original concept, but I believe it could have been better. Or Nagasarete Airantou which I did really enjoy, but it could have been better, plus it felt rushed near the end.

Next year, I'm really hoping that the fourth season of Maria-sama ga Miteru will air as I've been dying to see a continuation ever since I watched the first three seasons over the summer.

4. sola
5. myself; yourself
6. code GEASS
7. minami -ke
8. ef - a tale of memories
9. Zombie loan
15. Death Note (yes you read right its 15. since I think the anime's ending was little bit messed up, yes it was beautiful, but if they sorta merged it just like the manga's ending it could've been a real killer)

For know this would be my temporary list if I Find A hell lot of time and watch like a massacre, even though the end of the year exams are coming out of my school I may add more and revise it a little bit and I pray that I do may have time

)
2. Kanon

4. Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi

11. Ghost Hunt
12. Heroic Age
13. Saiunkoku Monogatari Season 1
14. Shion no Ou
15. School Days( just for the sake of producers' doing what viewers wanted
biggrin.gif
)

My temporary list:
1) Myself; Yourself-- despite possibly rushing episode 13, series was godlike
2) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai-- would be first if Minagoroshi wasn't all filler and if 24 was better.
3) Code Geass-- good but the suspense is killing me for season 2
4) Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS-- failure compared to A's (Fate wasn't cute anymore). Only White Devil, Vita's Unison, and psycho Subaru brought this way up.
5) Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo-- the never finished series
6) Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora-- the forgotten series as it would seem. Chikane Kaon, Setsuna, and Kuu Rule ^^
7) School Days-- "NICE BOAT!!!"
8) El Cazador de la Bruja-- plain awesomeness
9) Nanatsuiro Drops-- better than Moetan with much cuter and sensible lolis
10) Kanon 2006-- KyoAni. Makoto, Mai, and Sayuri ^^
11) Kodomo no Jikan-- doof's and noob's pedo virus has spread
12) Romeo x Juliet-- Shakespeare anime style = GOOD
smile.gif
, though supernatural stuff killed it for me
13) Sola-- Matsuri = Higurashi?
14) Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun-- still have yet to start watching
15) Negima Live-Action Drama

Others that some believe should be up here, but are not:
-Death Note: after L died, the rest sucked. Strayed from the manga a little bit and rushed ending.
-Lucky Star: just didn't make the cut even though I thoroughly enjoyed the last episode. It has the potential to knock out Prism Ar or Goshuushou-sama if something happens in the next two weeks.
-Gurren Lagann: dropped after episode 2

I have still yet to get an opinion on whether I should post this on the front page. Anyone?

Kit you should really give Gurren Lagann a second chance. It takes a while before you get used to its style but once you do it becomes one of the best anime experiences you will ever have.

I say go ahead and put it on the main page. Might motivate more people to participate.

I did, by giving it until episode 10, but it just didn't strike me as my type of series as much as several other series I was watching at the time.

Oh and by the way, discussions are allowed in this thread. It's not a pure voting thread. Just remember, that all forum rules still apply, aka no off-topic disucssions, no spam, etc...

Capeta ended in 2006 not 2007.

hmmm.... I may consider adding Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z to my list as it did end really well, much better than expected.

i see a lot of kanon 06 and tengen toppa, they were good but i dont know if i'd list em in my top 15, i'd love to know why so many people rank those 2 shows so highly
biggrin.gif
at first i thought maybe different taste but almost everyone ranked those... and there are quite a few good shows not listed here

i found kanon 06 just barely entertaining *IMO*, because evn though the art changed the story was mainly the same, and i dont really rank by art alone, i like refreshing stuff, its like watching the old exorcist and then the remade version to me... i just didn't get a feel for it
tongue.gif

tengen toppa was good, ending sucked majorly *IMO* but good nonetheless up to that point

up for arguement on either here heh, like i said im interested to hear why people rank them so high

P.S: im indecisive about picking favorites, so no list for me sorry
