Plot of Light Novels:

In this school fantasy story set in the distant future, creatures contaminated by pollution have overtaken the land, forcing humanity to live in isolated mobile cities called Regios. One such city named Czerni is a self-contained school in which freshman Reifon Aruseifu has just enrolled. Reifon reluctantly joins the 17th Martial Arts Studies Unit led by the third-year student Nina Antōku and embarks on a series of adventures.

(~from Baka-Updates~)

Plot #2:

The world was infected by "Pollutant" years ago - world cracked open and generally screwed up. This Pollutant spawns nasty "Pollutant Beasts", but it's also resulted in people gaining special powers. The towns that now litter the world are protected by alchemists and are mobile - these are the "Regios" of the title.

The story follows a guy named Lei-Fon Alseif who starts at a new school following the disappearance of his childhood friend and gets recruited into the special 17th Platoon in order to combat Pollutant Beasts.

My Thoughts:

I am really looking forward to this, I don't know why but I am really really looking forward to it and I do hope it will be good...can't wait.

I believe its the thing that its about a dude in search of his childhood friend while going to a new school, which gives the possibility of many new distractions......perhaps new love !?!

The plots described look like they're right up my valley, with a futuristic setting with an edge of fantasy it should be an interesting mix and given the nature of the setting the possibilities for dramatic scenes should be good. If I'm not watching it MAKE me

episode 1 was awesome.... xD i never knew this was getting an anime haha, and if they follow the novels right we may have one of the best animes in spring (make that 09) here... i just hope a few groups pick this one up

quick side note: they need to time the music better (or change it altogether) it didn't really fit the action scenes, but maybe thats just me

First episode is awesome!!! The little girl with the white hair (and the petals) is MINE!
This will be a great series for FTV I think if we can get it on a regular basis.
I say again the white-haired girl is MINE!

Yeah, the story is kind of bland, but I did like the art style. The character design... well... was pretty good but I feel like I've seen all of those characters before. Trinity Blood, Elemental Gelade, Prism Ark... (is it me or the guy with silver hair looks EXACTLY like Abel Nightroad??) The wierd yucky monsters were, well, weird and not very interesting. The preview for episode 2 did not sond exciting at all.

Now, I wish I could get this with better video quality so that it would be maybe worth watching. This time's LQ rip may have ruined the first impression for me...

PS The OP was... **** (didn't like it)

Wow, if that fight scene at the beginnning represents what's to come in this anime, then strike me completely unimpressed. Also, the garish CGI does not mesh at all with the normal animation.

The synth music is terrible. And I mean, TERRIBLE. Even worse than the music played for Blade of the Immortal. The characters are bland and meh and the idea of killing giant bugs all over again just doesn't amuse me.

It's dropped.

I don't know, if I were you I'd give it more time. Don't judge animation quality on a LQ rip.

I personally liked the synth, but not the OP song.

This ones a coin toss for me. Visually, it had sum interesting bits, the techno fight music was so lame, to the point where it was funny and forced me to enjoy it

, and the story did seem a bit bland, but it has sum potential. Ill hold off judgement until episode 3, but i dont expect this to make my top 5.

I thot the ED sounded like the OP of Yozakura Quartet, i was expecting to hear that song all of a sudden, but it looks like it is the same group.

Admittedly, once the novelty wears off the show could do with imprvements it is not as bad as many of you think. I'm actually quite shoicked that so many of you are judging an anime based purely on 1 episode. Do you judge books the same way?
I've always thought the purpose of an anime show (besides making money) was to entertain not impress people myself.

Well, most of the criticism here was pretty valid IMO (except the bgm, I don't see why people hate it so much). Naturally, it will take another two-three eps to make a final decision on whether to watch the show. The winter season seems to have a handful of great shows (Kurokami, Natsume2, Touhou etc.) after all.

I guess part of the problem was that lots of people had very high expectations for the show (me not being one of them, I have generally high standards ^___^)

The story was more than a little confusing. I mean, what were those fights, flash-forwards? Flashbacks? And another school run by students? It seems I'm running into that cliche rather too frequently of late. Also the first ep did a poor job of defining the world and the enemy. From what it seems so far, the planet is in peril from these monsters, but everyone is too wrapped up in their own petty in-fighting to do anything concrete about it. I don't know, maybe I'll give it a couple more episodes to win me over, but I don't think it will.

Excellent story plot to go along with stunning visuals. This just might be the anime of the year! Is what I would say if I was completely and utterly high. Luckily, depending on your perspective

I'm not and taking a step back I'll once again have to RESERVE judgement because there just wasn't enough to go on.

I can see the makings of an interesting story (military school hmmm?) but there are layers that need to be peeled through first. I can envision some interesting character prospects/developments between some of the female characters and the main protagonist. Soooo I'm certainly in for the next few episodes and I'll cross my fingers for a decent level of entertainment quality.

lol the first like 15 seconds of it clung on and never let go. Some really crazy action scenes happening here *_* the girls are pretty cute too. Yeah lets go exterminate some ginormous bugs xD

aye from a critical standpoint this anime screams mediocre. possibly a little better than average.

My preferences however likes this type of story =D world effed up humans living in colonies now and the like. Protagonist is not a developing underdog but is already g gangsta!

Once in a while its good to watch an anime or two without a critical standpoint.

Hope he kicks a can of whoop A next episode in the Inter-Matches.

I did find it odd how he simply didnt argue enough with the Council President to not go into the military arts and why is he going to school again?

Well, for the second part of your question, hopefully we get a little more than a couple of short flashbacks about that eventually.

As for the first part, I think he's just not the type of character who would argue much. You know, a guy who's pretty weak as a personality and easily persuaded, but kicks @$$ with special power - a pretty popular setup.

As for anime of the season, I think it will be Kurokami (why is there not a thread for it yet?!!), unless SHAFT decides to make another season of SZS.

FTV thread? http://boards.fansub.tv/index.php?showtopic=8204

EDIT: Huh, it was labeled differently from what I was doing the search for, huh? Thanks. =)

Various shows that this reminds me of....Prism Ark, Night Wizard, Rental Magica, World Destruction, and Tales of the Abyss.

Prism Ark and Night Wizard because of its fantasy setting with school-life involved along with a major battle occurring at the beginning and the ending of the episode with the whole introduction in between (Prism Ark memory....) + the actual OP theme as the end ending theme in the first episode
Rental Magica and World Destruction because of the same animation style (not to mention its the same company who did H2O, Da Capo, and Rental Magica)
Tales of the Abyss because of how much it jumps around. This series seems to hate staying in one place. A lot of the transitions are very sudden and dialogue is very bland. One thing happens immediately after the other too.

Other than that, it was a relatively interesting start and it has 24 episodes, not 12 as stated in the first post, so that give it time to develop a plot of which I'm not entirely sure what it's about yet though. Music and animation were decent despite the terrible raw quality. However, does anyone know if this series is following the light novel or the manga? And if so, which manga/novel since there are 2 different light novels and 4 different mangas....

My only complaint is the name translations:
Lei-Fong was Layfon
Mei-Shen was Meishen
Karian Roth was Karyan Ross o_O
there were a few others....hopefully this gets corrected.

Mei-Shen is awesome XD and Feri is also as awesome as I had expected her to be from the promos...Had my eye on her for this series since then
tongue.gif

Lei-Fong and Mei-Shen? Are they Chinese or sumth?

I guess I have another one to download because I picked up the manga first, which is actually only translated to the 4 or 5 chapter. From what I read so far it's not super great it an easy paint by numbers manga which is never bad sometimes I like similar plots with different characters.

I'm crossing my fingers hoping I don't puke at this "similar to world destruction" animation style or from what I glanced upon horrid CG, I mean it's an easy thing to do now-a-days, we are already 4 years or so past the "Gantz" anime debockel which had very good CG so, . . . I forget where I was going. It just better get better.
