Synopsis: TV adaptation of the online browser card battle game. The series features Fubuki as the main character, with the storyline based on her point of view. In a world where humanity faces the threat of the deep sea fleet which has taken over the seas, girls who possess the spirit of historical naval vessels known as Kanmusu (艦娘) are the only ones capable of countering them.

QUOTE (Norren @ Dec 29 2014,10:03 PM)KanColle might be interesting
QUOTE (Barbobot @ Nov 11 2014, 03:46 PM)Mainly to see what all the fandom is about.  Sooooooooo many KanColle doujins/artwork out there)actually ep.1 got my attention over Arpeggio, is similar but isn't CG animated

QUOTE (NecroRyu @ Jan 07 2015, 09:00 PM)actually ep.1 got my attention over Arpeggio, is similar but isn't CG animatedI just came back from watching the first episode ... Firstly of all... I believe that was the narrator of Mushishi at the begin. Secondly, The whole story looks like Arpeggio INDEED! aside from the fact of this being about Girls who possess the souls of warships from years past... fighting a mysterious fleet from the depths of the ocean which they named Abyssals .. It sounds a Lot Like Arpeggio..
I on the other hand .. even if it sounds a bit like Arpeggio.. I just Can't Take it Serious!! Arpeggio had some convincing power over its plot and above all looks!! .. this however.. for me .. does not.
Happy watching for all! But, I'm gonna sit this one out^^. (Don't Dislike, Don't Like).

It was a fun episode, but the show doesn't really seem to care about people new to KanColle. It throws so many characters on screen during the episode, seemingly to be able to say "Hey! Here's your favorite girl!" and then moves on. That's fine for people who know all the characters and play the game, but a bit confusing for those that don't. Still ended up being an enjoyable show though and I look forward to more.

PS: Nagato = best girl

Well if you come at it with the perspective of Strike Witches you can understand it.

This anime reminds me of all those hours I sunk into 1943 for the NES.

"I remember that boss. I remember that boss. I hated that boss' escort fleet. I remember that boss. Was that ship even in 1943?"

I'm hoping there's more of a plot after the character bumrush that was the first episode.

well I know I enjoyed the show, but then I also play the game too lo. but from what ive read the show is gonna be 70% sol and 30% battling. as for the start I think people would have been really bored if the first ep was just of Fubuki just roaming the base and all. I believe next ep will explain more stuff about whats going than the first ep. anyways I hope their will be more kongou I just love her to bits XD

Okay so I might just hold back on episode 1 for now and just wait for episodes 2 and/or 3 to come out before deciding on this then. I mean this sounds like it's fanservice for those who've played this game on that DMM website from what you guys are saying here.

well as far as the origins of where the Abyssals are the game doesn't specify either so im interested in seeing how they will tell the story of their origins. even a lot of the spin off materials have different representation of their origins. so I look forward to that. as for the game its way addictive in my opinion I play the game everyday while im on my computer and then I play it while im at work on my breaks lol. the game play may not be much but you do learn about the real ships from the game and what not.

OK, so I know it's just supposed to be cute ship-girls doing cute things and occasionally fighting etc. So forgive me for being pedantic for a bit, because the story as shown in the anime has a serious flaw, and I have to get it off my chest. So, our main character, Fubuki, has the soul of the first ship of the Fubuki-class destroyers, a class referred to as the first modern destroyers, having such innovations as larger displacement, more powerful engines, enclosed twin mount turrets and a large array of torpedo launchers. When the Fubuki class came on the scene, it sent naval powers around the world scrambling to catch up, and it of course influenced all later Japanese destroyer designs. And this is where the story in the show goes wrong. They make a big point of Fubuki being new, different and special, but in many of the Kanmusu in the show, such as Yuudachi (Poi!), Shimakaze and others, have the souls of ships built after Fubuki, and therefore are more advanced, meaning that Fubuki is nothing new to the Kanmusu force fighting the Abyssal fleet.

I now return you to your cute ship-girls without further interruption. Especially Atatgo, who has been super cute in each episode, if only briefly:

Take this!

Also, I 401 is the best ship, and I will beat to death with my fists anyone who says otherwise.

I believe with that line you might of ended up angering the Nagato fans out there. Also they kind of did this series as a PoV from Fubuki herself. Pretty much they are most likely going to ignore some, if not most historical facts in this series.

Waiting for two more episodes before marathoning it to see if it's still worth my time or not still.

Tch! Nagato isn't even the best Battleship.

I hope everyone enjoyed the grimdark episode 3. But if you know anything about the game, you know these things happen. But they don't have as many completely obvious death flags before the happen.

We won't forget..

QUOTE (AccipiterF1 @ Jan 23 2015, 03:07 PM)We won't forget..*sniffs* specially Mutsuki didn't but ep'4 isnt as grimdark, thanks to Zekamashi Shimakaze and the Kongou sisters xD... now I get why she's Usspaul's favorite, destroying (pun intended) her cool image in Bucky's mind until she saves her

Finally watched a couple of episodes of this........ so when are we getting Houpo-chan now?

Well, this is interesting. I heard a bit about this series so i thought why not watch the first episodes to see why some people hate it and others like it. It is weird to actually have girls to be a warship with guns and all. The mix of normal life and battles may not work for everyone so it is understandable why people don't like it. The normal life part on its own is pretty good but nothing exceptional. The battles are pretty straightforward without any real surprises. The series feels to be for people who know the background behind the series (e.g. the game).
Still it can be fun to watch it without any information. For example the 5th episode. A combination of those types of ships/girls is interesting. The girls themselves with their conversations were fun. To have a group function with the smallest (and weakest) vessel being the flagship may give strange results and may surprise people a lot.

QUOTE (AccipiterF1 @ Feb 02 2015, 6:56 PM)Oh man, I dread the appearance of Hoppo. After all the cute art based on her, the anime is just going to kill her without mercy.aside ep.3 i don't think other kanmusus with more fanbase will sink, also i hope that Yamato-sama will show up soon... at least now that Bucky was assigned to another fleet as flagship since ep.5, Kongō-chan will have more screentime
happy.gif

Well it's the only way for Kongo to try and get the attention of Admiral. Although I want to guess that Nagato already did that already. I mean as the secretary ship that's pretty much saying that Nagato is the Admiral's Waifu already.
laugh.gif

Also, seeing Kongo with her sisters last episode pretty much wanted me to say, "Yup that's the Kongo Rangers for ya'."

QUOTE (NecroRyu @ Feb 04 2015, 03:00 PM) aside ep.3 i don't think other kanmusus with more fanbase will sink,

Hoppo is a member of the Abyssal Fleet who have been treated as nothing but cannon fodder so far in the show. They are in the game too, but fan art has imbued them with lives beyond that, so if Hoppo-chan does show up, tears will be shed.

I'm still waiting for the appearance of Submarines in this show. All of them are great characters so it would be a huge shame if they didn't get some quality screen time.
