Re: Creators.... original... and sounds like it.... interesting potential, sort of wonder what they're gonna do with it... I've seen something along this line before, but can't remember it....of course, it is the basis of most religions/beliefs in that the 'gods' run our lives.. etc. The old Star Trek series had an episode on this 'Greek' affect.

A question... under the 'movies' category.. does that mean a theatrical release or not? TV 'movie' or what?

I've finally reached the point when I recognize all the plotlines and understand what others have meant by 'nothing new this season'.... outside of that Re: Creators concept.
On a side note, I've been reading some 'anime industry' threads on a couple of sites and it seems that most of these shows that I like are most likely 'after midnight' tv shows, thus 'otaku' or non-mainstream...well sort of.... at least no network thought they'd sell on primetime... or following the Japanese market, didn't have enough outside support.... and even the midnight shows are mostly sponsored to pay the bills, not unlike most work it seems... I'm surprised that there's as much product on the market under these conditions.
On other note, it seems I've been watching anime on mostly, if not exclusively, 'freebie' sites that don't support the industry. I actually signed up or registered the other day on one and there was no donate button, no fee requirement etc. which I found rather surprising... so which sites actually support the industry? I can't believe all these sites exist if the anime industry doesn't want them there.... as most of them seem to link out the videos to other sites, which implies they could be using just a few servers, which cost money, and those little dumb ads can't pay any bills really, right? from what i read: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2012-03-09 Has anything changed since this article a few years ago? How the hell can most of these companies survive in this marketplace? How can most of these 'freebie' sites survive those server fees etc? It doesn't make sense if they are counting on those tiny little ads that get ignored... for the most part.

Clockwork Planet... ?

Atom: The Beginning...? a prequel to AstroBoy... I recently saw about 15 minutes of a recent film by that name on tv... kid's thing, though there was an undercurrent of rather 'adult' situations.. not that it was really dealt with, but mostly used as a backdrop for further actions to make the 'boy' fight the other robots... reminded me of Pinocchio.... which also could be made rather 'dark', depending upon the targeted audience. I was wondering what audience this 'seinen' project is really targeting.

Alice to Zouroku...? Sounds like an intro to 4d Earth... or next level of the 'game'... esoterically speaking.

Re: Creators.... still sounds interesting... hopefully more than a concept, which is rather easy, execution or storytelling being the hard part.

There are a few others,... that tourist agency SoL Sakura Quest... ? could be interesting... this Rokudenshi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records...?from a LN... not sure how Akashic Records got in the title.... do they know what that means? rather esoteric namedrop, common thing to do in anime/manga, but still... ? Japan manga/anime seem to overload their stories with all these Shinto type characters... Shuumatsu nani shitemasu Ka.... reminds me of that tendency, a LN... sounds haremish to me...
Fukumenkei Noise is familar genre material... a K-On twist on the idol shows.. some have interesting concepts at least, even if SoL comedies like Hinako Note...? Coming of age school material in Tsuki ga Kirei... how about this one, Mori no Yousei: Kinoko no Musume? CGIproject with mushrooms as girls... reminds me of Binchou-tan... only using coal... which I found very interesting, the setup was emotionally very well done, but made absolutely no sense! Of course, it started off as a ad campaign making the mascot into an anime.. which went in a direction that essentially got 'lost'... didn't know where to go, what to do... so they ended it... perhaps going further than they originally intended... but I still have it listed in my favs.

Here's one that might be interesting, a film from the writer of Tatami Galaxy, Tomihiko Morimi: Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome the preview looks just like Tatami Galaxy, which was interesting, not that I ever care to watch it again.. that sort of interesting... where it all ends up like a dream at the end.. a tiring trope if not done rather well, which I don't think they did.. bad way to end that one, this project seems more rom-com instead... I wonder if they share the same animation studio? it looks like Rakugo..... as well as Tatami... must be the same.

PS.... Just looked at your link to the Young Jack Black series... which sounded rather good, how did that turn out? Based on a manga series Jack Black... series of short stories.. couple animes, a movie... then Young Jack Black... was it any good?

you mean Black Jack ;/ but yes i like it, just 12 eps no need to try 'sequels' first

- not expecting much: 7. Kyōkai no Rinne 3rd Series (an ongoing hit-or-miss) ;/
8. Natsume Yūjinchō Roku (i haven't finished the previous season yet)

Hmm, odd season so far.

Personal picks:

Something majutsu related to Akashic Records: This manga cracks me up, it's a guilty pleasure, so I guess I'll be watching this one. The parent's day chapter... oh god, the parent's day chapter getting animated.

[long harem LN title]: Preview art is cute and doesn't seem distastefully exaggerated like most harem fantasies. I'll try it, I guess.

Renai Boukun: Didn't... this manga end like... five years ago? I remember it being an over the top crazy parody of supernatural romcoms.

Zero kara hajimeru Mahou no Sho: BROCENARY! No. Seriously. Watch this. Mercenary and Zero's interactions are great. If they get even half of them in, this will be a classic to remember.

Sword Oratoria: It will always crack me up how Lefiya is a more manly version of Bell, AND she stole the title of Best Girl from him on top of that. If you've ever thought "is it wrong to..." would be better without Bell Cranel... this spinoff was made for you.

Eromanga-sensei: From what I've read of the Manga so far, this appears to be a parody of Ore no Imouto by the author of Ore no Imouto wherein the MC teams up with his adopted imouto to write Ore no Imouto for a light novel contest. (I think this author might need an intervention...)

Fukumenkei Noise: I lost track of this manga since the scanlators took freaking forever, but... it's kind of an interesting shoujo title. It'd be interesting to see if the anime makes it past where I've seen.

Attacking Titan season 2: I still can't stop laughing at how colossally bad the JP author's engrish is. Watched purely for "can't look away from trainwreck" value, the manga has shark jumped so far that it actually makes sense again. I have to applaud the mangaka's editor, the man has the tenacity and patience of a saint.

Clockwork Planet: Might be interesting? Not sure, I seem to remember seeing a Manga for this at some point and I don't think I've looked at it.

What do you mean? Next up: a Manga that involves creating Eromanga that created Ore no Imouto manga!!!

For myself, I will try the following:
Eromanga-Sensei
Renai Boukun: I remember reading it a long time ago... It was boring, but I'll give it a try. (mainly because of the yandere).

and that's it... I got really a short list of stuff to try out... rest will have to be by word of mouth, as I honestly don't see any other interesting series.

2. Blame! (previous work from Knights of Sidonia's creator animated at last) ^^
3. Biohazard Vendetta (so far i prefer Resident Evil CG films than live'actions):p

i'm enjoying sakura quest, eromanga, shuumatsu, fukumenkei. i haven't caught up with the last winter season anime sadly.

for some reason, fukumenkei reminds me of lovely complex. their stories are so different though.

Just watched that college based storyline.... seems to be a sequel to the previous cast of characters... "Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome : The Night is Short, Walk on Girl".
Same setup of course... entertaining... comedy.. if you liked his previous work "The Tatami Galaxy", you'll like this one.... uses the previous cast of charcters as a background to this more romantic one. Not exactly my thing, and I think it'd be much, much easier to watch with a dub, as the dialogue is fast and furious at times.. not often though, you can keep up with the subs, but this type of 'theatre' piece is best without having to read subs.... or so i think.... I did find myself skipping forward a bit... the animation playing with itself.. the story didn't get lost, just paused for a bit here and there as the flights of fancy played out... rather simple storyline, boy/girl thing from the previous work... I think.... it's been a while, and Tatami was a bit crazy on purpose. Overall a good work, but very stylized.... perhaps too much, but excess is its style... I just wanted it 'tighter'.... so that the main story's 'drive' didn't get lost in this campus worldview, which did serve it well... I wonder if this mangaka is going to use it over and over? I think our MC is a senior... he thinks of being a grad student, but that only delays the obvious need to find work etc... I think I'm more interested in the next project, if the author keeps our main cast... it was interesting to watch.... like an update on Tatami.

I remembered the only real issue I had with this... it's that the girl is setup very well.,, very interesting, quirky, cool, etc... but the guy isn't... not cool, interesting, or anything but put upon by others it seems, and if anything, more of a stalker, not a bad one really, but the author doesn't give us any reason to see why she suddenly finds herself in love with 'sensei' by the end of the film... like it's a whim... 'maybe I'm in love' etc.... they are using the same characters from Tatami, and I really don't remember this girl very well... but most of the others I do... and this relationship, or lack of one, is mirrored in the other King Underwear? character and his 'apple girl'... which is ironic, then used to suddenly switch his affections elsewhere... it's a comedy, so no big deal, but it implies the same with our MC... which is really the girl, with the guy playing her suitor this time... it's just too sudden of a 'revelation' of love at the end, wasn't setup earlier at all.... still a fun story.

I'll post this here as the 2nd cour was this past spring... Eccentric Family or Uchoten Kazoku... from the Tatami Galaxy writer and its sequel "The Night is Short, Walk on Girl"...
This one is from his novels.. 2 or them made into series... a third is supposed to be on its way... This is rather good... better than I expected, though I liked the films of his previous novels.... but those two were very fast paced in need of a good dub to really 'get it'... but this Eccentric Family is a rather normal fantasy setup in our 'real world'... only problem I usually have with fantasy is how 'elastic' the setup can get... like a game in which the rules can be changed when convenient.. it doesn't happen much, and maybe it's only because stuff isn't explained up front... but this story IMO works better than those other stories of his.... and is setup for continuation, thus the upcoming 3rd novel... the family dynamic and surrounding supporting cast of characters is rather excellent... even if I had differing ideas of what would happen in those situations... but from the characters pov, it's not only acceptable to be that way, but to be expected with their way of life for, we assume, has been nearly forever.. since these are Japanese folkloric characters... the tanuki and tengu etc... which have multiple interpretations, so easily played with... and since this is a comedy, anything goes... pretty much.
I'm actually looking forward to a third cour after the 3rd book comes out... but that could be a few years it seems.
In a supernatural version of the modern day, The Eccentric Family (Uchouten Kazoku) presents diverse Kyoto, where tanuki and tengu live side-by-side with humans. The tanuki Shimogamo family was once the head of the entire Kyoto tanuki society, but after the unfortunate death of their patriarch, Chief Souichirou, the family falls into disrepair as his four sons struggle to grow up and regain their foothold in society. This series follows Yasaburou, third son of the Shimogamo family, who inherited his father's idiocy. Having been taught by legendary tengu master Akadama and with close ties to human-tengu Benten, who is both a member of the tanuki-eating Friday Fellows and his longtime crush, Yasaburou's life is complicated.
Quirks and eccentricities abound. Yasaburou's brothers are their own curiosities. Yaichirou, the eldest, is aloof but overreacts to everything. Yajirou, the second oldest, is only motivated when drunk and lives as a frog at the bottom of a shrine well. Lastly, Yashirou, the youngest, works under his abusive cousins but has a knack for creating electricty. Their mother is a theatrical bifauxnen known as the "Black Prince" who's very afraid of thunder. Yasuburou himself disregards tanuki laws and society and masquerades as human most of the time. Despite antagonistic relatives, the Ebisugawas, and the threat of being caught and cooked in the Friday Fellows' hot pot, the family and friends go about life in ways only a bunch of misfits could.Originally a novel by Tomihiko Morimi published in 2007. A thirteen-episode anime adaptation was created by P. A. Works and aired Summer 2013.Production Second novel (from the planned trilogy) came out in 2015 and second anime season from the same staff aired in Spring 2017.
