#335524 Future Plans & Ideas, Name Change? Features? Open Discussion

Posted by JCDRANZER on 20 December 2018 - 05:39 PM

I can't remember when this site was created (I think 2004 not sure) but I joined the fray back in 2006 by pure chance. I started watching "other" animes besides the typical ones you get introduced to even though Eva was my first one, I started wanting to know what others thought about it and came across FTV.

The site in my opinion started to die back in 2008 (yup a decade ago), there was a multitude of reasons for this such as the quality of anime we were getting after such a great year of it in 2006 and 2007, it went down because of the moeblob crap. Another thing was the FTV Staff Members were kinda strict or just difficult people, which rubbed people the wrong way and people left because of that. However, the biggest reason is social media, you can find recommendations for anime as well as get intrigued by a random post on twitter, insta, reddit, etc which makes the site hard to be relevant to casual anime watchers.

A through and through anime website that does well to stay relevant is MAL I think because it has a core in the sense it shows your stats as an anime watcher.

I have an idea but it is a bit silly and not too sure if it will work but perhaps using an incentive to get people to use FTV to watch anime, by downloading and streaming on the site (not sure if FTV still does that or not), the incentive I'm talking about is an "anime-score" like gamerscore for Xbox. Putting a value on an anime, so watching an anime that is rarely watched gives you more points per episode you watch on FTV.

I use a site called trueachievements and I'm completely hooked on it because of how the site is built on solutions as well as giving you a "Grade/Point Score" somewhat to show that you are neither a noob or a gamer that goes for achievements.

P.S. Didn't know that my status had changed to Retired lol....I mean it is true though.

I know, right? We have to think of something to entice them to check FTV site.

hm could be adding thread links related to the news you posted? By example, these Psycho-Pass films with this topic... or just casual like your anime season question, if people find anything interesting in that Winter 2019 lineup?

Maybe you could be an editor, too? So you could change or post images as well.

I already tried to update both pics yet didn't let me, so only 'official' editors?... But I just got the Rookie Badge for my first edit, twitter link was wrong

Give me stuff to work with and I can take a crack at the facebook page then.

for starters, i think it's about time to update the umaru and background pics... instead could be some new anime, or meme? especially a controversial one B)

#335391 Goblin Slayer (A Dark D&D series of sorts)

They should’ve put viewer discretion warning at the start of the first episode.

I actually like the show so far. I was shocked about the r*** part. I had to ignore it since it raised a flag for me. It was bloody, too. Some people that I know don’t want to watch this.

The mini blogs, i was wondering if we can use them for game reviews or game “guides?” Maybe thatll add more traffic? Or we dont have to use the mini blogs, just add them somewhere in the forums.

We could even add more contents like reviews of movies, games, music, movies, or dramas. But we will need reviewers (writers) though.

#333913 Happy Birthday Fansub.tv Oct 22nd 2004 - 2017

Posted by Maiku_Ando on 11 October 2017 - 10:42 PM

In just 11 days it will be 13 years* since Fansub.tv was first registered (the domain name) and exactly 1 year since I took it over.

Quite an incredable run, 13 years, 2004.
Thats the same year as The Facebook started (yes it changed its name).
Thats only 1 year less than MySpace (2003/14 years).
Thats 4 years older than MATV (August 2008)
Happy Birthday Fansub!
A huge thank you and well done to Daft (also Happy Birthday Daft Oct 5th!) for creating the place we call home and for keeping it going for so long.
A big thank you to everyone, past and present, who have been members, moderators, leaders, sempais, kouhais, scanlators, translators, fansubers, posters, bloggers, Karaoke stars, reviewers, writes, cooks, lurkers and more!
Share your Fansub memories and comments below, open thread.
How Fansub has looked over the years, at WayBack Machine

*13 years based on the whois data for the fansub.tv domain name which states "2004-10-22T04:19:55Z".

Ask for a new OP and you shall get one..... but seeing how much of these animes are industry product to sell songs like music videos or to sell collections of the original material like mangas... LNs or product merchandise, it  isn't very surprising that the songs change every season... usually not for the better it seems to me.... but this new S2 ending has an interesting use of the chibi forms of the characters interacting with their creators drawings of them and their world.... that's interest to see.

I would like to see Meteora 'grow up'... sexy, but not in any American blatant manner... rather cool and naturally 'sexy'. ;)  Latest new ep for this season is mostly setup for the story to come.

Therefore, the first promotions of 2017, everyone please congratulate the following members who have been promoted from Kouhai to Sempai!

Member Since 15 Oct 2010

Congratulations to you both!

#2427 Extending Access: Request Only Areas & Ecchi / 18+ Gallery

Posted by Maiku_Ando on 15 November 2012 - 10:59 PM

The site has some additional areas which are restricted by access level or member's rank.
Some of these areas are 'request' areas, this means that anyone can gain access, but they need to request it first.

Member Ranks
Implemented same ranks as originally on FTV, thus we use:

-chi = 10 posts
-chan = 50 posts
-san = 150 posts
-dono = 500 posts
-sama = 1000 posts

This is open to all members, it uses the Rizon IRC network. You can register you nickname or own channel etc with them as normal.

Ecchi Gallery
We have an area for 'Ecchi' images as well as short videos. You will need to be a member of the 'Ecchi Group'.

Please contact a mod or leader via PM saying you are 18+ and want to join the 'Ecchi Group'.

If you are already in the Ecchi Group, you can visit the gallery here.

Fansubber Area
This is provided to recognised members of fansub groups we provide DDLs for.

For members involved in the webzine project.

FTV-Subs/MATV Subs
An area for the fansub groups, these are not in use as the groups are inactive.
