Hi forum users and readers I hope you can solve a stupid problem with my computer
I recently downloaded couple files from limewire and now my computer is acting really messed up, It takes long time to start and after turning on
I get many notifications from my firewall that something is trying to connect to the internet, Im worried if they may be trojans or viruses and
that someone is trying to steal my passwords.

Well thats it, stupid problem and I hope that it has a nice easy solution that you can come up with, Im getting all your replays to my email
so I´ll keep an eye on the topic, take care.

A large number of files circulating on Limewire are viruses or other malicious software. So every time you download a file from Limewire there is a significant risk that your computer will get infected (I hear 30% of all files on Limewire are viruses). So my advice is this: disconnet from the internet, uninstall Limewire then scan your computer for viruses/spyware using anti-virus/anti-spyware software. After that you can reinstall Limework (the program is clean). When downloading the files it pays to make a few precautions.

1 - Always have your anti-virus/spyware active while using Limewire.
2 - Check the file length of of any file you are downloading. Any file below 1 (or around) MB is most likely a virus/malware.
3 - Know the file extension of the file you're downloading. If you're downloading a movie/music file don't download any .exe files!
4 - Check for the bitrates of music files. If a file does not have this information it could be a virus.
5 - Always scan any .zip/.rar/.exe for viruses before using them. The same applies for larger programs.

First off what do you use as an antivirus?? Do you have any cleanup programs??

If not i suggest Avast antivirus, that has a very good free version and as for a cleanup program, i suggest CCleaner.

Avast free edition.

CCleaner

Also to compltely rid yourself of any other files use this tool. Malware bites it will get rid of anytihng else thats been left behind.

Malware bytes.

Also do get rid and stop using Limewire thats a virus heaven

If it's still going slow after scanning your computer with anti-viruses, anti-spyware, etc. and shunning all the stuff it finds you could always system restore it to before you downloaded what you did on Limewire. If you don't make system restores then...reformat if you can't find the thing that's making your computer slow.

Track it down =P old fashion way XD Open up Task Manager and google every xxx.exe you see under your username most system require to be there but if you got a virus it might hid itself as a system. lol... but you could do what everyone else said use those program and run antivirus under safemode.

In my opinion if you dling from limewire you most likely got virus and I think it those old virus so spybot search and destroy should do the trick some ppl will disagree though lol....

Also reformat is a option if you got 2 + hours to give up on your comp lol
