Talk about drama's in general. Discuss your favorite actors or any other elements that doesn't belong somewhere else.

Same rules apply here as we have on the rest of the drama section.

Ok... I'm not sure if I should put it up here or General Discourse, but since this still involves Japanese television and is more on the three-dimensional aspect. It's not drama but it's live action so here goes... for a long long time now, I have been hearing a lot of thing about this guy called "Hard Gay" from friends in conventions and someone has actually cosplayed it in a major anime con. But seriously, I have no idea who he is. Who is he???

If you google around, you get some interesting blogs and such talking about him.

QUOTE Hard Gay is a faux homosexual that dresses in stereotypical tight leather clothing and runs around the streets of Tokyo performing acts of "social improvement" while thrusting his hips and yelling "Woooo!"

QUOTE Razor Ramon Hard Gay is the performing name of Masaki Sumitani a Japanese comedian, wrestler and tarento (“talent”). His act gained national attention and popularity when featured on the Bakushō Mondai no Bakuten! (Daibakuten) Saturday variety show on TBS Television in Japan, in 2005. He should not be confused with American professional wrestler Scott Hall, whose use of the “Razor Ramon” stage name predates Sumitani’s.

I'm sure youtube is an unending source of clips on this ... because yeah, you do hear it mentioned a fair amount among fans and in some shows.

Thanks chiisana_hana, I went around in youtube for it.

Anyway, I noticed that there was no thread for Maison Ikkoku. I just wanted one simple question. How episodes was this? I actually got a Copy of it through a friend (I actually thought that it was a movie) and I actually liked it. But when I watched the last episode in the copy that I had, it seem unfinished. I watched up the part where Godai finally passed university and he and Kyoko were able to talk about their feelings. That was basically it, but I'm not sure if they just deliberately left it open-ended or was there more after that since Godai found Kyoko talking tennis lessons from some guy.

I don't know... was that the end of it??? I was looking through Drama Wiki but the information of number of episodes wasn't there.

The Drama-Wiki page for this is totally blank. It doesn't look like it was ever fansubbed (in English, at least). I wouldn't even know where else to look besides actual Korean forums (which I can't read/navigate). Sorry!

So... FTV is hosting Gokusen 3!? I absolutely must watch this for old time's sake. I have to admit, though, my expectations are not terribly high. Not that I disliked Gokusen (quite the opposite, I loved the first season), but just as I found that the 2nd series wasn't nearly as good as the 1st series (it's hard to make fresh jokes about the "yakuza-as-teacher" concept), I don't expect the 3rd to be even as good as the 2nd (unless they bring back Matsumoto Jun as a grown-up Shin - see season 1 - in which case, I would literally fall off my chair in shock/delight). I will be watching, though, to see the up-and-comers that populate her class-- both Johnnys and others. The Gokusen series has showcased a lot of young actors I enjoyed in other/later dramas-- Matsumoto Jun (Kimi wa Petto, Hana Yori Dango), Oguri Shun (Hana-Kimi, Hana Yori Dango), Kamenashi Kazuya (One Pound Gospel, Suppli, Nobuta wo Produce), Akanishi Jin (Anego, Yukan Club), Hayami Mokomichi (Zettai Kareshi, Brother Beat) and Teppei (Love*Com movie, Water Boys 2)-- and I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of the boys, but those are the most prominent in my mind. Anyway, it should be interesting to see who tomorrow's featured players will be (of the new class, I only recognize Ishiguro Hideo from One Pound Gospel).

I don't expect the 3rd to be even as good as the 2ndUnfortunately, my suspicions have proven true. I've watched 1-1/2 eps (yep, didn't even make it through ep02 without wandering off...) and it seems like I've seen it all before (because, well, I have). Except maybe the boys keep getting more & more extreme hairstyles (I mean extreme in that "J-boy pop-idol" sort of way). Anyone who was eyeing this, I would recommend you watched the original Gokusen drama (2002) instead (although I'm still probably going to end up watching this anyway, eventually...)

However... I'm starting into Bijo ka Yajuu (Beauty or Beast) and Beach Boys (no, it's not shonen-ai! *lol*) and really enjoying both. I've already got all of Bijo ka Yajuu (2003) ready to go, but Beach Boys (1997) is so old (well, for a drama) that the torrents are taking forever to download. Most of the 10 eps are just sitting there at 50-99%.

Now-- I'm off to find a new K-drama to watch (I haven't watched any since finished 9 Ends 2 Out months ago!)
Edit: I think I'm gonna check out Hong Gil Dong, which is described as a "Korean Robin Hood" and seems well-liked in the D-Addicts forum.

I have watched Gokusen 3 and I have to admit I am no fan of this series but seriously, every episode almost have the same plot. I cannot believed it is getting really high rating since it is aired.

I would prefer Change over Gokusen. Although it is about Japan politic (which I am never interested), I like the plot.

Too bad the rating is not as good as Gokusen. I personally think this drama is good comparing to the rest of the Spring drama now showing.

Okay...there's 2 Mukodono season, the first was done in 2001 and the 2nd was done in 2003. I want to know whether, Mukodono! 2003 is a remake or a direct sequel of the 1st season. Does anyone know ??

You know, I've been sorta wondering this myself. Nagase Tomoya stars in both, they both have the same characters & plot-- and they were only made 2 years apart. I don't see how the 2003 series could be a sequel to the 2001 because we see Yuichiro meet his future-wife in episode 01 of Mukodono 2003 (and somehow I doubt he secretly got married twice

). But then again, why in the world would they remake a series only 2 years later? So, I did a little digging in D-Addicts and hit upon this thread, wherein "uladelz" indicates that 2003 is "remake/alternate version." But why so soon after the original? Especially since it looks like many people (at least those who commented) prefer 2001 to 2003. *wonders if she should watch 2001 now*

But the problem is that it doesn't look like the 2001 got subbed....leaving only the 2003. However, I bet there's a site where I can watch the 2001. I'm going to start the 2003 one right now, since I just finished off Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi ~the smile has left your eyes~ (A Million Stars Falling from the Sky ~ the smile has left your eyes~), which was actually a pretty good thriller based dorama....reminded me of Sleeping Forest, however, I would prefer Sleeping Forest overall though.

QUOTE (JCDRANZER @ Jun 12 2008, 02:33 AM)But the problem is that it doesn't look like the 2001 got subbed...I found a LiveJournal page with MU links for Mukodono (2001). I just DL'd & joined ep01 and yes, it's subtitled!

I just finished off Mukodono 2003, it was a light dorama....its mainly focused on the problems of Yuichiro's new family....his wife's immediate family. I actually expected more romance from this series but it didn't offer much. I'm about to join up the parts to extract the first episode of the 2001 series.

The difference between the 2 series is that apart from Nagase Tomoya playing as Yuichiro Sakuraba, the rest of the cast is played by different actors....apart from the doctor in the 2003 version is also in the 2001 series. The other difference is that the storyline and the plot seem to be completely different to each other.

Wow-- so I watched ep01 of the original (2001) Mukodono and it really is quite different, isn't it? Nagase Tomoya's not trying quite so hard to be super-dorky (which was amusing at first, but made it hard to see Yuichiro as a grown man). I definitely like the character (and actress) of his wife better in this one. In the 2003 series, she was just nice... well, rather bland really (I actually felt he had more chemistry with his [female] manager in the 2003 series). I suppose that doesn't matter because I don't see either series as a romance, mainly because the couple is already super-lovey-dovey in the first episode. Like you said, it's really about Yuichiro's in-laws. Who are completely different-- different actors (except for Shinohara Ryoko), different siblings (there's a brother-in-law and nephews, whereas 2003 had all sisters), different professions... Actually, judging from the first episode alone, I think I would've like this one better. Too bad, since I've already watched 2003 the original might seem like more of the same, even though it's the superior (and original) series. I'll probably watch the rest of it eventually-- but this week I got completely distracted... *hops over to the Drama Recommendations thread*

At lolipower.org, they are going to remove the screwball server around about July 10th. The screwball server holds all the dorama....meaning, in less than 2 weeks there won't be any dorama on lolipower anymore and they don't have plans of bringing back dorama to lolipower unfortunately.

SO LEECH ALL YOU CAN BEFORE JULT 10th!!! XD
