OMFG....I just finished watching the trailer for this for the very first time and damn does it look good and it shows you how they've improved over one year........they obviously put in a lot of effort because graphic software certainly does not come cheap and even attaining a pirate version is difficult to get.........I'm amazed by Maikaze......really awesome. biggrin.gif

Hmm, looks like this could be fun, but man the graphic quality was pretty horrible. Not bad for a doujin production though, I'll be looking forward to this!

I'd say the best thing going for this fan made anime is the seiyuu cast, with at least four names that instantly jumped out at me and left me thinking "How the hell did they get her to do this?"

I'm not really hoping for too much, so with low expectations, I won't get disappointed if it turns out worse than expected.

Quoting myself to show my opinion after I've seen episode 1.

All in all, it was much better than I expected it would be, especially after watching the trailer/OP video last week. As I stated before, the best thing was the seiyuu cast, but it was enjoyable to watch, and I look forward to more if/when Maikaze releases more episodes, possibly at the next Comiket in August 2009, but they might wait until Comiket 77 in a year. In any case, I guess they have shown one thing: Touhou can be adapted into an anime.

So episode 1 wasn't bad considering it was done by a group of amateurs, but it looked more like a comedy than anything. I was hoping for some more action, but not much really happened this episode, probably more in the future episodes of the OVA. It was good plot development to conjure up a decent story. It's also good to note that most of the stuff that occurs in the episode is stuff from the opening.

Other than that, seiyuu cast was nice and so was the music, especially the ending. It is definitely better than what I had expected from the trailer....and Rie Tanaka continues to be awesome is all I can say...probably the easiest seiyuu to notice too XD

The first episode is titled as "A Summer Day's Dream" and I look forward to more hopefully soon smile.gif

Well, the story of the games was more like a comedy anyway, so I guess that's expected.

So when is ep 1 coming out?

It's already out. Just that Animesuki and the like don't consider it an anime since it's not done by an official studio dry.gif

No recognized as an official anime? Hmm, it's like some site not recognizing Tsukihime as an official game >____<

Anyway, I can find my way around google, and I've already got the ep =)

There fixed. I had to since the Type-Moon Slave inside me told me to do so. The reason is you can't comapre the game to something that doesn't exist anyways until a few more year when the finally make it into an anime.

In any case if an episode comes up after this preview then I'm sure it'll be a improvement frm what they've done a year or so ago.

Ep.1 is out Kid-Wolf =)

Looked MUCH better than the previews, although it still stands out as a low-budget doujin project (the obvious zoom-in and -out and span animation on still images, and inconsistency of character drawing, basic preset sounds), it still look very decent, and the story is set up pretty well and in good faith to the original games. Aya is adorable =)

*Walks in with Dark Robes and casts Thread Necromancy*

Ok with that done I managed to come across the first episode and all I can say is the animation quality and whatnot seems to be pretty good. The downside is that I'm not fully aware of the characters in the series though, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the series though.

Well from what it looks like they'll do a second epsidoe whenever they feel like it it seems though. Once they do I'm looking forward to watching though. laugh.gif

I believe ep 2 is either already out, or will be at c76. Because ZUN doesn't want it to be official, though, it will be strictly doujin, and sold only at special events, thus rare. Hopefully subbers manage to get it somewhere, though...

As for understanding all the charas... That's a bit of a hard one, I can only recommend you to become an all-out Touhou-fan =))) Playing some of the games, reading the Touhou Wiki, browsing Youtube for MADs and such, maybe reading some of the translated doujins is a good start =)

c76 is gone. By now someone would have made news of it but not a single soul has yet reported whether or not a second episode has been released.

Also, at Expo I found a copy of the first episode in raw and subbed form (subbed by the production group themselves). Unfortunately, I didn't feel like spending $70 just to pick up a one episode OVA regardless of how rare it was. Then again, I may very well regret this decision in about 5-10 years time.

nice!

It still boggles my mind that an official anime hasn't been made for Touhou. The popularity it already has guarantees a virtually no-lose situation on making one, not to mention that there is tons of material and characters to work from. Also, ZUN could use it to firmly cement character personas that have been distorted by some fans.

BTW the animation in that link is impressive. Is it still a large group project or has it become more specialized?
