i swear i used the search key and i couldnt find another thread with this name, though im pretty sure there was one that was made before. course i could be blind or arrogant. if u do find the thread plz link and close this one.

either way, i think its time to change my IM. cause MSN is realli pissing me off. it keeps disconnecting. ive been trying out some of the other ones. Gaim seems to be missing alot of functions, or i cant find them. Trillian is so complicated though i know its not. i hate ICQ, the name itself pisses me off.

Smilelolz is mad! RAWR!

so that's why I can't send u files by uploading them in the msngr....man...so idle!!!

I think smilelolz problem is the connection....although I know msn msngr doesn't have the bad habit of disconnecting frequently for unstable connention like yahoo msngr....but still...

anyways I use both msn and yahoo msngr...which one shud I vote????? I sign in at both at the same time....so dunno....

I use MSN messenger, its good enough for me, i dont like complicated things.

Add me if you like [email protected] however, if I ask you "Quien eres?" say "english please"

I also use MSN, I have Yahoo as well but I don't really use it.

I use yahoo. I'm not really familiar with some of the others. I liked yahoo because it supported voicechat and web camming. It let the kids talk to their grandparents thousands of miles away whenever they wanted to.

Does Trillian support voice and cam features? I'd kinda like to be able IM with folks even if their on a differnt system. I'll have to check into that.
**Lycos, go get it!**

i use a gaim-based app called Adium, which is pretty sweet (for mac os x only though). and being gaim-based, i voted gaim

usually i'm online on msn and icq, occasionally on yahoo messenger, and i might begin using skype or yak more often! i gotta get used to voice chats..

woohoo i see trillian as the first. Besides, what's better than having 1 messenger for one service when you can have 1 for 5!?!

I use msn messenger... I don't really care... as long as I could chat with people I know, I'm fine... most of my friends have msn... and majority wins... I wouldn't go install a new program just for chatting... waste of time...

A single program for multiple messenger protocol is great. That is why I prefer GAIM. After all, it is open source and completely free, unlike trilian for which you need to pay if you want to have all features.

QUOTE most of my friends have msn... and majority wins... Trilian and GAIM are not messenger protocol. You use those program to communicate on MSN, IRC, AOL, Jabber and ICQ networks. And GAIM is also cros platform. It can be used in windows, Linux and macOS, so its great that you can use the same client on any computer you are.

How can you stand MSN and all the flashing pictures, the HUGE chat box and the multiple window it uses when talking to more than one person?

Gaim??? oohh, soungs interesting. I'm gonna have a quick look on that.

Gaim huh? hurm........... Can that support voice chat and camming? I'll have to look into that too.

What about xfire??? :?

The voice and video is not yet completeed. It was supposed to be in the upcoming 2.0 version but is behing pushed back to the next release. Its the only functionnality I find is missing from GAIM over MSN.

But at least, they have the decensy to tell us its not ready and they don't try to give people a non working version that is badly working.

So just be a little bit patient and those functionnalities will be there. For those that are interested, here is the official site: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

I'm addicted to my voice chat. "Talkis cheap, and I like it that way." Other wise it looks cool. I've downloaded that trillian program Daedroth mentioned. so far looks good but ineed to sign on to each messanger service separately. I wonder if any other multiservice program consolidates the systems better. Guess I'll keep looking.

Can someone add xfire as well?

xfire is up there. i use trillian now because it's simpler/more complex. the chat is simpler, yet it has more features than most chat services. i like that i can disable the taskbar button and the lack of advertisements. the free version works well for me.

you can set it to automatically connect to any of the services at sign on in the preferences.

TRILLIAN RULES! I always use it for EVERYTHING! However, it does have some troubles but besides that it kicks butt!
