Due to Limited Storage capacity, I decide to convert some of my anime collection. te thing is, the biggest file there is all in .mkv format.

while i know this file have superior quality, and dual audio mode, I don't think I need that, since I prefer Japanese original voice.

the question is : how to convert standard .mkv with dual audio to the usual .avi with single japanese audio, subtitle and preferrably, video quality as good as the original file.

I have a better solution for you.

Get MKVToolnix from here.

When you get it read through it's help file a bit or even just wing it. (it's fairly simple for what you want to accomplish)

Now what you wanna do is take the original dual audio mkv's you have and remux them into a new mkv without that extra audio stream. After you're done muxing the new mkv without that extra audio track, you can delete the original mkv.

This will allow you to kill off that audio stream and not damage the video at all.

EDIT: It's so simple that I might as well as explain it...

After installing MKVToolnix, open up mkvmerge gui. To the right of where it says Input Files, click on add and open up the original dual audio mkv.

Now in the box below the Input Files you should see a bunch of streams that are checked. Just remove the check next to the English audio track. Now go to where it says Output filename and give your new mkv a name and click on Start muxing.

You're done.

hmm...I downloaded and try the program. a file with size of 233 Mb is reduced to 221Mb... that's not too significant...I guess Make it into Avi is a better solution...Except if there is a specific command to fix this problem ? Now I Guess a little video damage is acceptable, is there another way to do this ?
Thank for your Answer, Harukalover. At least I Learn Something New

EDIT : I realize that different movie seems to have compression rate. before, I try with Ikkitousen series with minimum effect. but on X tv series it shrink the file from 348 Mb to 270 Mb. I wonder why the sound size difference is so large....

Harukalover, mkvtoolnix is fantastic! Thank you so much for posting the solution. I was having an issue transcoding a dual audio file with TVersity and felt like I was banging my head against the wall when it kept converting to the wrong language, despite my modifying all kinds of different settings. By stripping out the language tracks that I didn't want, everything is working just great. And the new tool set is so much faster that using some of the others that are out there.

Thanks again!
