Just to advise everyone, we have received a DMCA complaint sent direct to our hosting providers for one of the streaming pages. The sender appears to be an anti-piracy organisation with a "94%" take down record, apparently. I have replied to them, advising that it is a link to Crunchyroll and that we are not infringing on their rights. However, as this was sent to our host, this can sometimes cause very negative results from hosting providers. Hopefully with explanation everything will be ok, but just wanted to advise in case we suddenly go dark.

Further update

Please note, effective immediately "The idolmster Cinderella Girls Theater" is now blacklisted throughout the site.

Please do not upload, link to or display any content relating to this anime. This includes threads, gallery, recommendations, blog posts or any other content relating to this series.

Mods: Please lock and move any threads into the staff / mod area - Don't delete them, just move them for now.

The anime listings and images from crunchyroll have been removed.

This is due to the DMCA notice.

This may in future increase to any series by A-1 Pictures, for now it is just that series.

Some commentry on all of the above - basically what has happened is that an Anti-piracy organisation in Europe has decided to send a DMCA (copyright / take down) notice for one of the episode pages for a Crunchyroll streaming Anime. Yes, you are reading that right, they are demanding we remove both the screenshot and the link to official, legal, fully licensed and endorsed anime streaming. A screenshot that we don't even host, its hosted by Crunchyroll. A site called FANSUB TV, that links to OFFICAL streaming, is ordered to remove that, of all the items on this site, thats what they want removed. Frankly the utter stupidity of this both infuriates me and makes me want to give up on these stupid Anime companies entirely. The years of work I have put into trying to make a system that only used offical anime sources, and the one and only take down I have EVER recieved, is sent for the part of the site that is official and fully legal. I should of just left it doing Fansubs like back in the original days of Daft, clearly they don't mind that ! Not only that, but they don't even bother to contact me via the site or email address provided, insted they send an official legal complaint direct to my host - ie trying to get the server shutdown. I even tried to email them, to explain they have this all wrong - but they don't even reply to my mail. I even contacted Crunchyroll, no reply yet.

I honestly do not know what to do now, if we're going to get DMCA hits for linking to official streams, that just means theres nothing at all that can be used for anime updates. Sadly this also means I'll have to remove pretty much the entire old part of the site, all of the streaming, all of the anime data bases, and litterally all that will be left is the forum, blogs and karaoke. I can't continue to run the site in the face of DMCA notices, the hosting provider will only tollerate a small number, and then I'll be forced to move hosts until they contact that one.

Point of curiosity, did they provide proof that they are acting as official agents of the rightsholder in FTV's host territory? (assuming that's the US?) I'd poke Crunchyroll to see if these people are even legally authorized to do this, if not I'd ask Crunchyroll to send them a cease and desist, as they are technically sabotaging CR's business!

Well thats the thing, no they didn't. They are based in Germany, the hosting company is New Jersey, Crunchyroll I think is California, and I'm the UK. I have contacted CR, but they havn't replied yet either.

Best bet is to probably remove it temporarily until this who misunderstanding is resolved. As far as we know they might just be some people that just despise any forms of animu period.

I want to say that if that's the case you should see what CR is going to say about this, since we are kind of promoting their site with the steams and all.

So far have remained totally silent, even on just asking about use of their data.

I have had a response from the people who sent in the DMCA notice, although not really sure how to interpret things at the moment, and also not sure I can post it here.

I have also gone through and tightened up the copyright notices on the site and made the DMCA policy more visible, those were a bit off in places and needed some work. Hopefully that will keep future issues to a minimum.
