Hey there.
I'm new to this Forum, but I saw a couple posts that are kinnnnnda related to this but they didn't really help me.
I've got a few Animes that I've been trying to Backup to DVD to watch on my Tv.
I used to just watch it on my PC, but then my input headphone jack thingy broke... so now I can't use headphones and the speakers on my Laptop are absolute butt.

I've downloaded and tried so many softwares, to name a few;
Nero 11
Convertx2DVD (Worked with some Anime, but not others.)
DVDsanta
TotalVideoConverter
AVI2DVD
DVD Fab
Ideal DVD copy

Not a single one is working though.
I'm not very computer savy though, I can't give you information on the Anime, Because I don't know how to get it :/
I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this, and would know a solution?
I've been trying for montttths, but to no avail.

Any help is appreciated,
Thank-You

A few questions to start:
1) Did you check to make sure the anime you're burning actually have subs on them (i.e. the .ass or .srt file is not separated from the video source?)
2) How are you trying burn the DVD? Are you burning it as a simple data disc?
3) When you test the files, did you ensure that proper codecs are installed and setup on the machine you're trying to play it on? (e.g. vsfilter, cccp?)

Well, I've watched them on the computer numerous times with Japanese Audio and English Subtitles, so I'm sure there are subtitles with the video.

But a majority of my Anime is softsubbed, and the anime that I can burn (Bleach/Naruto/Blood+, ect..) is hardsubbed, so I'm not sure whether the type of subbing effects the ability for the burner to pick up on the subtitles?

As to question two, I don't actually know what a Data Disc is? Is this a standard Data Disc format menu looky' thing? Because this is what the look like basically when I burn the ones that work using ConvertXToDvd--

It won't allow me to post IMG's or Links, but if you google ConvertXToDvd menu in Google Images, You'll see what the menus look like.

And as to your third question, I have absolutely no clue what Codecs is, how to install it, find it, nor what it does.

What is vsfilter, cccp? Can that be placed into a DVD player???

You'd imaging being 18, I would have a knack with Computers, but honestly, I'm amazed this hasn't blown up yet.
Sorry for being a complete Poo when it comes to Computer terms and what-not.

It doesn't sound like it's a file issue so it's likely how you are burning the disc.

If you are burning to a data disc, you can store up to disc data limit (i.e. about 4.4 gb of any computer data instead of 120 minute limit of media runtime). From what it sounds/looks like, you're trying to burn it to a media format, which would be attempting to play it on say your home DVD player.

Personally, I have never found this to work and you're better off selecting data disc instead. By burning a data disc, you won't be able to play the files on a DVD player but you can easily pop it into another computer that can read DVD discs and open the file directly (similar to an external hard drive). Try this to see if it works or if it's what you're looking for.

ConvertXToDVD might not have an option to let you burn a data disc (though I'll be surprised if it doesn't), in which case I would try to grab something like ImgBurn, which is free. I haven't used it in a while but if I remember correctly, it does have a data disc option.
