It depends on how you are going to use it. In any case I'm kind of wondering what do you mean by making the watchlists public anyways daft-sama.

For starters, I'm thinking of making everybody's watchlist public through their profile. I'm also thinking of showing some of the people that you're following that are also watching the same show. I just hooked up the "watching" counter on the profiles to show the number of items the person is watching. The link still doesn't do much yet though.
If someone wants this, I might add a privacy option to allow people to follow shows privately.

Does anyone have any problems with watchlists being made public? At the moment, all watchlists items are private. |
...And in other news, The internet anime community Fansub.TV went off-line today as their servers crumbled under the load as hundreds of the sites members all tried to remove Ecchi and loli shows from their watch lists before the deadline... One user we found collapsed in an internet cafe who had been there all night trying to login had gone insane and was mumbleing mostly random nonsense except for the occaisional ...why??... daft-sama why??? why dosnt 'stop watching' work!!!'????

Public watch list? Sounds interesting daft, but I sure would appreciate the privacy option since I like to keep things neat and tidy and discreet.

As always, your innovations/updates to the FTV website are good and do not go unnoticed.
How ironic it has become ... a one man show.

It's a great idea, and I doubt there'd be privacy concerns since the people choose what to put or not put on their lists. However, you'd be competing directly with other popular listing sites, like MAL or ANN, backed by impressive anime encyclopedias. Something to consider before putting in too much effort.
If you just mean making the current watchlist system public with, say, a link in each member's profile, then I welcome that idea, even though I do not use watchlists

Wasn't the watchlist originally just a feed to begin with telling the users that a new episode had been released? If so, I don't see a problem with it being public or private since it's not like we host hentai or anything on here. Of course, privacy option would definitely be appreciated as ImTakes described above.

Yeah the privacy function might be a good idea since some people don't like to show off what they are watching sometimes. Although some people don't mind them being noticed about watching said series.
I mean the counter is there, but I think it'll show who else is followin said series asdie from when epsidoes come out onto the main page. At least that's what I take from that Kit-san.

I put in some code to actually show the shows in your watchlists now in the profiles. At the moment, I have it hardcoded so that everybody's watchlist except mine (so feel free to see what I'm watching now). Once I get the preference setting coded up, the default will be set to "Public".

Yeays I can now finally go a hedge out my list now, but too bad I have to go to each one to remove the series that shouldn't be on my list anymore. In any case nice job daft-sama, and I can see what series you have followed at one point too.

I like the changes you've made in regards to the watchlist Daft. Any chance of a rating system?
It will take me a while to add everything I've watched but I might actually do that so I can direct people to my Fansub.TV watchlist, rather than my outsourced list, when they ask what I've seen!
We don't have a few of the anime that I've seen listed though (eg. Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom) so it will incomplete.
I started watching Tamayura ~hitotose~ last week.
