Version 1.0
- my must see: 1. Sword Art Online II (not really a long wait with Extra Edition)
2. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! (mahou loli returns now with Archerko) :3
- hopefully better than previous seasons: 3. Space Dandy s2 (it's back baby) xD
4. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal (after delays since 20th anniversary) ¬¬
- could be good telling by its studio: 5. Tokyo Ghoul (studio Pierrot+horror!) ^^
6. Aldnoah.Zero (A-1 Pictures written by Gen Urobuchi and director Ei Aoki) o_O
- not expecting much: 7. Psycho-Pass 'Kai' (not s2 but 11 edited eps from s1) ;(

- OVAs/films from high to low expectation: 1. GITS ARISE border:3 Ghost Tears
2. Lupin III: Jigen Daisuke Bohyou (looks retro style ala Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna)
3. Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha OVA (its season finale isnt as good as the other eps)
4. Ano Natsu de Matteru OVA (ok I didn't expect a new episode after so long) :0
5. Uchuu Kyoudai Nanba 0 (i hope this movie prequel isn't a slowpaced filler) -.-
6. Hayate no Gotoku OVA 2 (it's been a while since last season Cuties ended) ;/
7. Blade & Soul OVAs (this series isn't over so I'm not looking forward for it yet)

hmm... compared to spring, this one is going to be tricky for me..

So far of all those series, I will check out:

Glasslip (looks normal).
Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (Looks like a standard comedic plot).
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (No season is complete without such a serie plot).
Magimoji Rurumo (There must always be a Pervert main character).
Grisaia no Katjitsu (a sort of Dorm series? could work).
Jinsei (been a while since there was something with newspapers).
Kuroshitsuji Circus Hen (second season was a downer but this version might work).
Himegoto (No Season is complete without a Student Council).

(Anime in Question...)
Rokujyouma no Shinryayakusha (It sounds a lot like Nanana's Buried Treasure, aside from this one looking like a harem and has magical girls ect, for some reason looks like a rip-off in my eyes for the moment).

(Anime I will be avoiding)
Sword Art Online 2 (I personally simply don't like the story of S1 after episode 14 , It kinda made me angry and irritated to watch it any longer).

(Other Series)
For now, I will wait for a more detailed list of what is to come, because I doubt this will be all.
Aside from that the rest kinda looks.. a bit iffy , sure some of the rest has caught my eyes but for now.. This is what I got in mind.

Sailor Moon reboot
Magical Illya
Kantai Collection
and Kyouki no Kanata OVA
are so far the only definites on my list.

And I can't believe they're making an OAD of Majaki no Rakuen. DISGUSTING!

The real beginning of this year(since Spring season was pretty much meh with exception with one or two shows)
  • Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Zwei - One of THE shows of the year. Zwei content in manga was fracking awesome, I can only hope the anime studio does it justice and does not alter too much.
  • SAO Season Two - I have very fond memories of the Gun Gale Online arc in the novels.Hopefully the adaptation will cover certain arc after it too.
  • Sailor Moon remake - VERY nostalgic. I have good memories of the manga and it would be nice to see it done justice
  • Psycho Pass - loved the original(even though story was typical Urobutcher), but it was lacking something. Hopefully this will fix that.

MAYBE:
  • Aldnoah Zero - mecha genre, intriguing even if generic PV,might be decent.

What, no love for Tamayura: More Aggressive?
Must be a filler until another season gets started. That storyteller has a great touch with the subject and how the images are used in the usual teen friendship storyline etc.. great EDs with their own animation that fits the storyline and its development, which is rare, right? In the midst of the seemingly mundane, a certain something special is found. The whole dead father, the camera, the daughters's coming to terms etc... very well done... within the limits of the usual commercial storytelling, which isn't easy to do.

Psycho-Pass edited to 1 hour might be interesting, given the storyline, as I've never seen it before.... that I remember.
wink.gif
Again, esoterically, that's next level stuff along the line of 'reading' each others chakras.. at least the 'shell' at least. The problem with 'managing crime' in such a world is that it's a demarcation point between the two 'sides'... positive and negative... same in the Harry Potterverse... as Dumberdore told Harry.... it's all about our choices. Many such anime storylines fall within this perspective, if you know what the undercurrent is and often their creators don't themselves.... the archetypes can be seen if you can pull off the mask of illusion.
ph34r.gif

AldNoah.Zero is similar... in reference to potential 'future' propaganda storylines... a references to 'Martians' that is... as 'hypergates' are again, next level stuff... though it is said that the only 'beings from Mars' are next level, though there is said to be a SG 'false flag op' designed to work along this idea... as an excuse for SG types coming out of hiding after the transition... heard of 'dark matter' affecting the outer comet/asteroid field lately? They are giving out hints all over the place... must be that 'law' about free will that requires them to do so... sort of forces their hand... like how idiotic our govt is these days... the psychopaths are 'coming out of the woodwork' after decades of dumbing us down and preparing the field for play. I doubt if this anime gets into any of that... but it would be nice to see all the hidden elements at play.
smile.gif

Zankyou no Terror sounds like some kids recruited to work for our govt.... along the false flag op variety, which is everywhere these days. Of course, "pull the trigger on this world" is about right, only Mother Nature is the gun and TPTB seems to be playing russian roullette... but we only see the puppet show and not the puppet masters behind the curtain here in Oz.

Version 2.0
QUOTE (Masich @ Apr 25 2014, 2:47 PM)(Other Series) For now, I will wait for a more detailed list of what is to come, because I doubt this will be all.an update that caught my attention is Hanamonogatari's premiere until August, which means it's delayed again like Shaft did in Bakemonogatari Tsubasa Cat...
at least Onimonogatari's full OP finally was released, my latest favorite instrumental next to Brynhildr
biggrin.gif

Second version of my list to check out, thanks to NecroRyu for for the 2.0 update.

Glasslip (looks interesting)
Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (Looks like a standard comedic plot).
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (No season is complete without such a serie plot).
Magimoji Rurumo (There must always be a Pervert main character).
Grisaia no Katjitsu (a sort of Dorm series? could work).
Jinsei (been a while since there was something with newspapers).
Kuroshitsuji Circus Hen (this version of the Kuroshitsuji might work).
Himegoto (There must always be a Student Council).
Francesca: Girls Be Ambitious (A undead Idol and only 15min episodes, probaly going to check it out).
Rokujyouma no Shinryayakusha (It sounds a lot like Nanana's Buried Treasure but more Harem and Absurd).
Sabagebu (I don't know what to think of it.. so, I will also check it out this summer).
Hanayamata (Yosakoi Dancing, never heard of it, so I will check it out as well).
Kantai Collection (A card battle game).
Akame ga Kill! (I have seen the manga , Can't wait for this 1).

(Anime I will be avoiding)
Monogatari (personally not a fan of the series).
Sword Art Online 2 (I personally, simply, don't like the story of S1 after episode 14).

(Other Series)
Aside from that, the rest kinda looks.. a bit iffy , sure some of them has caught my eyes and I will probably check them out later in the summer.

QUOTE (Masich @ Apr 25 2014, 05:47 PM)hmm... compared to spring, this one is going to be tricky for me..
Same here but for different reasons. This season had been too cramped up with too many epic things to watch, summer seems to have less stuff i want to watch, so i am going to use the spare time to catch up to all the stuff that has been piling up this season and from before that, specially, i think ill be able to catch up with the To Aru LNs since i still havent caught up to the latest release
sad.gif

As for what im planning on following...

Sword Art Online 2 is a must for me, it looks like it might turn out more like the second manga of accel world
Fate Kaleid, another must for me, loved how it ended on first season
Hamatora second season, HELL YEAH (embarrasing Sakura-like inner projection), finally we get the to be continued to be actually continued xD
Zankyouu no Terror, finally, something new that pulls my S triggers.

The unexpected ones that look good;

Grisaiai no kajitsu looks ecchi, i might watch it
tongue.gif

I might watch Himegoto, i used to hate cute traps a few years ago but now i like them (for fun points), did always like otome wa boku ni koi shiteru xD and similar works.
Sagagebu... well ill check it out, hope its like the airsoft club.
Rokujyou no Shinryakusha sounds filling, gochisousama. (
Tokyo Ghoul, looks good?
Magimoji Rurumo sounds good, synopsis reminds me a bit of Tomoki from Sora no otoshimono, only remarkable point was his unparalleled ecchiness
Tokyo ESP might be a good adaptation
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun sounds promising, story seems quite original.

The stuff i wont watch;

Ill pass on psycho pass, no pun intended, its just that acording to synopse, it seems like its going to be the same rerun with just a few extras.
And Kuroshitsuji, ill stick to the manga, i didnt like the anime past the first 5 episodes.

......... as for Love Stage!! (i cant believe im commenting on this publicly), i dont like homo stuff that is obvious fanfare for fujoshi like meganebu or free swim (was that the name?) but i love things like gravitation (very old anime were the two protagonists are... well, BL), where its more silly and funny and less abu, abu, abu, and obviously andy and frank.

A bunch of stuff I'm not sure about in this one.

My short list is SAO S2, Fate/Kaleid Zwei, and Akame ga Kiru, and hope I don't have to explain those. ;P

A few things seem like they might be interesting- Aldnoah.Zero, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

As for curiosities that I'm not sure about...

I've been meaning to look at Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance the LN for a while now since for a while it was getting consistent chapter releases, the adaptation might be a good intro to it, but I'll probably drop it if it ends up as saccharine-harem as I'm expecting.

Kantai Collection/KanColle... I've seen video footage of that game and I just can't talk myself into proxying around the region filter for Anthroboats. Probably going to watch just 'cause what little gameplay footage I've seen was quite comical.

I'm going to check out Rail Wars! because I think the LN character designer is one of the people I follow on pixiv... I recognize the characters and recall all of his art of them had publisher copyrights stamped all over every corner of the images.

Lastly, at some point I need to go back and watch the monogatari stories. They've been on my watch list forever and I never have gotten around to clearing them off.

Version 3.0
QUOTE (Masich @ May 24 2014, 07:30 AM)to check out, thanks to NecroRyu for for the 2.0 update.
QUOTE (Norren @ Jun 13 2014, 06:40 PM)at some point I need to go back and watch the monogatari stories. They've been on my watch list forever and I never have gotten around to clearing them offas July started with preairs you have time to catch up Hanamonogatari, apart a few additions in v'3 I saw Kaze Tachinu subbed... for me a "spiritual prequel" of Grave of the Fireflies, which i didn't enjoy much either than other Ghibli films -.-

Synopsis: Jirou dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and thus unable to become a pilot, Jirou joins the aircraft division of a major Japanese engineering company in 1927. His genius is soon recognized, and he grows to become one of the world's most accomplished airplane designers. Key historical events deeply affected the course of Jirou's life, including the great Kanto earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic, and Japan's plunge into war. He meets and falls in love with Naoko, grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjou, and innovates tremendously, leading the aviation world into the future.

Well I come to find out that I'm actually enjoying the short Himegoto now. For some reason it's just so traptacular with just the first two shorts that are out. I guess it might be due to the fact that they are really going at the whole "Why a guy dresses like a girl," stick here.

FIRST: Hi guys! Been a while. Hope that you are all doing well.

Now I haven't been active with anime since the move and subsequent unboxing, house decorating, discovery of all the new and exciting unexpected BILLS that come with purchasing a new home... Yaaaaaaay....

But here is my list so far:

#1 - Sabagebu - Didn't know what to make of it after the first episode, but the second one has clinched it for me! Just the kind of twisted, bizarre, and multi-level comedy I find myself laughing out loud at. (Not so much the torture, but the situations resulting from it are priceless!)

#2 - Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - Kind of a slow start with introducing the characters that inspire Nozaki's manga characters, but still fun to watch.

#3 - Akame ga Kill! - Kind of formulatic, but I have high hopes for it. Imagine Taiga as a brunette assassin and Yuugi as a swordsman and I think that you have the core character dynamic down... Even has the super-busty, athletic "distraction girl" for the main guy to get mixed signals from!

#4 - Jinsei - Has SO much potential and quite a few bright moments, but I just don't see this show having the staying power to maintain the level entertainment value it SHOULD possess. (Think Gj-Bu without the Kirara- or elder sister components.)

#5 - Rail Wars! - This rounds-out my top 5 picks for the season. Meek, yet darkly-determined main protagonist. Hot redhead with an even hotter temper, Busty, cheerful, seemingly-rich ojousama type, and tall, stoic super-physical straight-man adding the ultra-male dynamic to the group. I imagine him being the type to say things like "...is what it means to be a MAN!" whenever he can, kind of like Elfman does in Fairy Tail.

Honestly, I'm going back through old series like Magical Index and Legend Of The Legendary Heroes to hear them in English over at Funimation.com because the current line-up hasn't got much that has me interested.

Although Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei! has been entertaining so far, but I consider that a continuation of a previous season rather than a new show, so I don't rank it. Dark Illya just might be the most entertaining story arc yet!

Oh, and Zankyou no Terror ? I'm from New Jersey, and watched the Twin Towers fall.... LIVE. It may have been 3 years ago, but for me personally, IT'S STILL TOO SOON for me to enjoy watching that kind of story. I won't deny anyone else enjoying it, or comment on their tastes, but personally it is still way too inappropriate FOR ME to watch... (Not that I would ever expect people in Japan to share my (admitted!) hyper-sensitivity to terrorism stories...)

The other new Ghibli film looks interesting... the adaptation of a British book... I think it is.... Omide no Marnie.

I still have to pick up and try a few shows so far, but I'm enjoying the season.

Obviously, I'm watching the ones I've commented on, but a few of the ones that I want to get more thoughts gathered on: (in no particular order)

Ao Haru Ride. This one was under my radar, but since a few others enjoyed it, out of curiosity I sampled the first few chapters of the scanlations one morning before it aired, figuring I'd watch the show if I liked the start... Work went crazy that day and I couldn't sleep after, so I ended up marathoning the rest of the scanlations. Paradoxically, I hate the characters, but enjoy the story. That doesn't happen often for me - I think that's because the characters are strong even though I don't really like any of them. Started watching the adaptation tonight, two eps in and enjoying it so far.

Himegoto. How did the worst running parody type gag in Hayate no Gotoku end up getting its own parody? This is ~terrible~ in a "pass the popcorn" sort of way. "photoshop."
tongue.gif
The only better running trap joke that I can think of is Needless, and even it turned the running trap joke into a GLORIOUS reality.

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance has been a disappointment so far. I'm not sure if I was really expecting anything out of it, it's better than Unbreakable Machine Doll in some ways, worse in others, but in general a trope-twin with it. Some day I'm going to have to look up the history of this wierd magic + high school + fight tournament + harem recipe to see what series started the mess. Not sure if this is a drop candidate for me or not, depends on how insufferable they choose to play the harem.

Zankyou no Terror. I'm not sure what to think of this one. We've been handed a pretty typical Red Oni/Blue Oni pair of villain main charas who seem to be hell bent on victimless terrorism as part of a grander scheme to get back at the lab they grew up in, and a psychologically abused, beyond stressed out highschool girl. The boys destroyed my willing suspension of disbelief early on, the girl seems to have some purpose in the story but has as of yet only delivered her (intentionally) disgusting origin scenario. There's still a few puzzle pieces missing from the story, and until I can see those, I don't really feel comfortable making an evaluation, but the first two episodes don't have any emotional draw for me.

The only character I really feel is interesting in a good way is Good Guy Vincent in the record room, and even then I'm not sure if he's going to be anything but a mailman for the "riddles" that so far are pretty obvious. I appreciate the degree of homework that went into the show, but it only just seems to make the show feel out of place in an episodic 20 minute time slot, instead of a bigger time slot like 1 hour.

There's still a few more left to sample, but I'm not sure how many I'm going to get to before I just settle into a weekly routine of shows.

Stuff I'm not bothering with: Space Dandy, Psycho Pass, Sailor Moon.

End Result after watching at least 2 episodes of the new animes (anything not on my list...I simply don't follow anymore). I'm not going to rank them, it is a simple list of what I will be following and what I think about it (in short) so far.

Barakamon : So far it has a bit of mixed signals for me..Good comedy and sometimes...Weird...But, the tone overall is a little relaxing and warm giving.
Akame ga Kill! : Why? Because I like to have a bloody slasher that does not care about killing any type of human in gender/age every now and then. Honestly...*Thumbs up on the killing* and comedy.
Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun : First episode is a bit slow, afterwards in the 2nd & 3rd...I can't stop laughing and re-watching.
Jinsei : It is fun and a bit random, not my favorite, but, that is also because it takes long for a subbed version...
Hanayamata : Cute? Adorable? Obvious? ... same statement as : Is the order a rabbit? My only downside on this anime is the animation...(Huge Foreheads and low placed eyes).
Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance : I only watch it, because it beats Dragonar Academy (By a MILE) and Unbreakable Machine doll. I know on other sites that Blade dance is being ripped apart as another look a like of Dragonar /& or Doll but... This has at least more Types of characters!! and a main character with a story and not a weak personality! ...reminds me of the Familiar of Zero now that I think about it.
Majimoji Rurumo : Old fashion, Slightly perverted, still adorable and yet hilarious.
Glasslip : I Kinda lost track with its story line so far...but the animation is still *again* Marvelous! and the music often makes me feel very relaxed and slee..py...Zzzzz
Black Butler : So far it beats the hell out of the 2nd season, maybe because this 1 has its own story line as far as I can tell (thank god).
Rokujyoma no Shinryakusha!? : So many types, fighting for a Six-Tatami Mat Room...Simple Hilarious! got nothing against it.

I have tried + watched at least 2 episodes of : Tokyo Ghoul, Rail Wars, Himegoto, Ao Haru Ride, Momo Kyun Sword, Francesca and Tokyo ESP, But have for each of them a good reason not to follow it. Being personal / obvious >.>

Watching quite a few shows right now, way better season than previous few that had nigh anything good.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya still continues to be great, the animation is around 2x better than the previous season and the fights are stunning, can't wait to see the more epic stuff from latter on animated. For now it remains as the best and most faithful FSN universe adaptation on tv screen. The only one to do the Archer fights correctly too. 10/10
Sailor Moon Crystal - so far VERY faithful to manga. The next episode will be quite shocking for those who have not read it. Third Episode is always the most shocking it seems. 9/10
Aldnoah Zero - way not enough carnage for butcher mahou shoujo Princess is the best character so far. NOt that much to say otherwise, hopefully the butchering will start soon and she will turn into yandere hitler. 7/10

Still have to watch Tokyo Ghoul and Akame Ga Kill.

I really wish someone would do another season of Cowboy B. It was one of the Anime that got me hooked on watching this addictive stuff, other than Green Green, Full Metal and Inuyasha, Futurama, Bleach and the list goes on and on lol.

You can't really do another season of Cowboy Bebop. It had a definite ending for Spike and the majority of the characters.

QUOTE (Knorris908 @ Jul 17 2014, 02:34 PM)But here is my list so far:I'm watching most of your top summer series, I would like to know what others here consider as best this season to recommend before I post the Fall line-up... about Himegoto i think the situation of that trap is a bit like Hayate no gotoku :/

1. Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stardust Crusaders (most hilarious show IMO) xD
2. Sword Art Online II (at last the Phantom Bullet arc is starting to pick up) >.<
3. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (cool 2nd arc climax going to end next ep) o_O
4. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (for me the best romantic comedy this season) ;p
5. Akame ga Kill (more interesting with the prime minister and mad assassin) ;/
6. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! (Archerko, Caren and Kiritsugu debut) ^^
7. Rail Wars! (a nice action series but i hope there'll be less animation flaws)'¬¬
8. Space Dandy S2 (very weird latest episode but i like it more than S1 ep.9)'-.-
9. Psycho-Pass 'Kai' (again why s2 isn't aired instead of this extended recap?) ;(
10. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal (only waiting my favorite Rei Hino) >.>
* bottom guilty pleasure: Marvel Disk Wars Avengers (yeah it's still ongoing!)
