PC games

like your last thread...wrong section.

It depends on the type of file. It will often be iso extensions so use something like daemon tools to mount the iso as an image and then play.

Also, if this is something like the other thread you've posted you could use a program called 7zip to open up and combine those multiple .rar files. Soemtimes that programs is worth it since not only does it do .rar files, but .7z and .zip files as well. I hope that helps you out now.

First what is the file extension, is it a .rar if so I use winrar which has a wizard. After you extract the file what is the extension again, like an .iso if so you can mount the image with deamon tool, then you can play it.

Also most games are copyright protected with means you may need a serial number, if thats the case you won't be able to play and we should actually not be helping you.

Well judging by the "Download" and it not being click and go play im presuming this is an illegal download of a game but aslong as we dont say anything illegal then its okay to help ^^.

So first off tell us the files extension. If you do not know how to do this then right click>properties on the file of which the game is named after. There it will say file type. probably .iso. So if it is then get an image mounting tool such as Deamon tools or Alcohol 120% (my personal chioce.)

Once you have either of the two programs then report back if you need help to "mount" the .iso.

Reading the comments people make on the torrents helps a lot. There's usually people there describing what to do.

As for unraring. Open the .rar file with WinRAR (or 7z or whatever), select the file(s) you want to unrar and click "Extract to." After doing that it'll probably be an .iso. Sometimes they come with Readme's (not all the time though) and they should usually come with a *Taken out*. I could tell you more, but just go above for mounting or go to the torrent comments and you'll probably get told how to do it easily.

We dont support the hacking of Software/games etc.. on FTV.

With this all said and done I'm closing this thread now since I don't like it when we talk about warez like this. I mean it can get to be very troublesome when it comes down to it in a legality standpoint.

If you want this thread to be reopend then ask eithe rone of the FTVMemers, or one of the Sempais they may want to reopen this thread if you got a good reason for it.

Unlocked.

Before deciding to crucify him why not ask for the link to the supposed legal torrent instead of making an assumption just to fit your topic locking quota.

Hint1: There is free legal games distributed through torrent.
Hint2: He mentioned rar but just as what he found in a search engine, not that the torrent actually provided him with a rar.
Hint3: rar's can be used for legal distribution as well...

Sorry if I'm starting to become a lock-happy Sempai now. It's just when these programs are normally used you tend to think the illegitamate side most of the times any more.

Although you do have a point that there are some things that can be legally received though torrents and whatnot. Although it is kind of hard ot shck the feeling you know.

*sigh* Today is just not my day now is it?

I apologize for that. I didn't mean you in particular, there's others who I know are much worse in that regard. But that's probably becoming the norm in many forums now especially ones where a huge percentage of the top posters are given mod powers.

Yeah I see what you mean, noramlly I do tend to lockdown thread in this area due to the fact that the problem was taken care of and had no need of being open in the end.

Never the less this thread is kind of... well different since this is one of those threads that tends to be in the "grey" area of things. Besides the fact I just feel like a total mess since Monday, and I'm not sure why though.

You are correct but the only "legal" games distributed through torrents that come in .rar format are only for packing because of the high content so it will suppress the number of GB/MB of the torrent. Also if that is the case then it should be as simple as 123. Then again i digress
huh.gif

So
1. There is no file extension added for us to help we really need it to help.
2. There has been nothing illegal mentioned with the exception of one which i removed.
3. The thread is in a "grey" area as kid says so until something illegal is mentioned then its probably best to leave it.
4. My suspicions are that the game is not legit for the simple reason that it would just be a case of winrar if its in .rar format. Then click and play. (I may be wrong though.)

He mentioned pretty much exactly what I mentioned but just used different words. So...I don't see how that's still there but mines isn't? o_O If it was the second word you were bothered about then alright, but the first one was alright so I don't see why you removed both of them instead of just the second one.

Oh, and I don't think someone would get free PC games for someone's Christmas. But that's just me. XD

But I don't see the problem if it is a free PC game, since I'm yet to find a free PC game that's not an .exe file. So I don't see how he'd have trouble with it unless it is because it's in a .rar file first or something.

Well it is kind of hard to believe that certain PC games are free that are torrented. Although the only ones that come to mind would be certain MMOs that can torrent thier games and whatnot. Other then that I have no idea how a PC game can be legal though a .rar packaging though.

hey ppl thanks for posting... but the torrent game that i downloaded was not free

hence, its highly likely it was legal... lol..i dont support illegal games either because i work for one of the companies that makes games

I have played fan-made freeware games that required an installation and were distributed by torrent. I have also owned games that were run by Steam - which just requires you to pay and log in - and have downloaded said games via torrent b/c I didn't have the disc with me at school. Those also required installation and were free. There are also probably games that you can buy online and download rather than getting a disc. Often times, companies offer their downloads via torrent (I know of several that do this).
Also, the user asking for help did not actually state that anything was in .rar packaging (or even in .iso or similar packaging), just that they had downloaded the game using a torrent and didn't know what to do now. Assumptions have been made that it was in .iso, .rar, or other similar packaging but they are not necessarily true. For all we know, it is a simple .exe but the user doesn't know which thing IS the .exe and which are other random files in the same folder that the program needs to run. Maybe they downloaded the torrent, it was a free game in .rar packaging but the user doesn't know how to use rar. Or even if they did, they already unrared it into a folder and now don't know how to start the program b/c they don't know which file is the .exe.

You shouldn't automatically assume that something is illegal going on based only on the fact that the question had to do with a game. No other real information was given so there is no way to tell. There's no need to lock the thread, advise illegal methods (such as cracks/keygens), or anything else.
What SHOULD be done is to ask the user to provide more information such as what the game is, if it is packaged, what file type is the packaging, etc.

So...what's the name of the game? Is it stored in .rar file(s), is it .iso or what? Post a link to the torrent you downloaded or something and we'll be able to help you easily (if it IS legal).

They posted one minute before I did, that was less than an hour ago. For some reason I don't think they're scared off yet =P
