For those who watched the first season, obviously it didn't end the way we thought it would. With an ongoing manga, and full of ridiculous comedy, we were bound to get another second season and that was announced shortly after the end of the first season last spring. Well the time has finally come. Word on the street is that the premier is slated for Spring 2009. As for the actual date and confirmation, this is not yet fully confirmed, but should be within the next month or so. Hopefully this information is true.I trust 2chan and Moonphase....

Hopefully more manga material...especially the parts on Maria and Hinagiku. Ratings are bound to sky rocket there.

The "0th episode" of season 2, which is an OVA thats being released on 6th March 2009.

"This year's 50th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has announced on Wednesday that a "0th episode" for the second Hayate the Combat Butler anime season will ship on a DVD. The DVD will be released before the actual second season premieres."

I believe that the 2nd season won't start as early as this Spring but its possible looking at the OVA episode's release.

I cannot wait for this show to come back. Zettai Karen Children has been an ok replacement with it's similar style of comedy in some aspects and plethora of Hayate and Nagi cameos, but I'm gonna be so happy when it's back.

it's on the spring schedule lineup already that 2chan and 4chan are rolling out, but no confirmed air date like a whole bunch of series at the moment since it's still 1 month too early.

and I completely forgot about the OVA coming out 1 month before the actual spring season. And because it is episode 0, that's why it's almost more than likely for the whole series to return this spring.

Oh no. It going to be Hayate no Gotoku pile up in my collection. First series is pretty abundant. More episodes ....... great.

Hehe, no kidding. I've been thinking of going back and rewatching the 1st season lately but 52 episodes is a lot to go through, especially with my schedule atm.

OVA was a great change of pace for me (looks at Clannad). I love the narrator. He adds a whole new layer to the comedy. Can't forget all the inside jokes too. Hope the upcoming season keeps me hooked like the first did.

Just got done watching the OVA and I gotta say the animation looks great! The drawings and colors looks better and brighter than season 1. They really stepped it up a notch. I hope they keep it up for the second season.

I noticed the for the episode 00, the animation company got changed from Synergy SP to J.C. Staff...it makes me wonder if the rest of the series 2 is gonna be produced by them as well, or if it's just a one-shot thing they do for the OVA...

I'm actually very surprised that Synergy is no longer doing the animation. It made the episode feel weird to me...though Hinagiku did look a lot prettier...whereas Nagi on the other hand looked awkward....I think they made her look too much like Shana at one point.

Although I don't mind too much that J.C. Staff is working on it, I just hope they're consistent (looks at most recent episode of Toradora! episode 23)

I never actully seen the Hayate anime, but read the manga and I must say. I was expecting Hayate voice to be more manly. It's just very girly. >.< Nagi also looks weird in a weird way. I also for some reason I thought Hina had bright red hair, not pink.

Anyway good episode. Very funny.

Looking forward to this season and if I get the chance I'll try to watch season 1.

So is it really true that this will only be 13 episodes? ANN lists it as 13 and mentioned that in their preview for the first episode.

And I haven't watched the first ep yet, but I'm slightly worried cause I hear there is a great lack of parodies and references that were scattered all throughout the first season.

Oh, and Hinagiku ED = Win

I hope not, but IIRC last "season" was actually 4, 13 episode, seasons.
They really started to refer to that in the show itself at the very end of episode 39, when they were like "Yep, season 4 starts next week and it will be more comedy stuff then this one."
And then they refer to old episodes as previous seasons after that..
So it's quite possible that the news is correct and this next season is gonna be 13 episodes, but we'll just happen to get 3 more seasons or something, or at least that's what I'm hoping for.

Well animes in japan are generally put in 4 defined seasons of the year, with some spanning one, others 2, and others more. But season lengths when you refer to them in terms of how many episodes are measured in number of continuous spanning episodes, ie not breaking for a season. So the last season of Hayate was a SINGLE season, spanning 4 seasons of japanese airtime on television.

But I do hope 13 is incorrect.

So I just watched the first episode, a few things:

-lol at the Touhou Hakurei Reimu cosplay by Hayate in the opening
-the character designs look a bit too weird now.... (possibly just the choice of color now) Nagi and Maria look as if they're glittering for some reason.  Hinagiku is the only that looks vastly better from the first season.
-Having recently come out of ef ~A Tale of Melodies~, the opening theme really does not impress me considering they're both by ELISA.  I wonder what happened to KOTOKO and Mami Kawada?
-As already stated, Hinagiku ed = epic win.  I want moar of my Hina
smile.gif
Really hoping it's not only 13 or 26 episodes now and hopefully it faithfully follows the manga now.
-and glad to see Rie Kugimiya and Rie Tanaka in good roles now.
-Although both OP and ED were decent, they are nowhere on the same level as that of the first season and that really disappoints me

i somehow feel uncomfortable seeing how the characters talk and behave.
it seems to me, that they all got a character change - of course, i am happy to see a second season but it feels just different watching this season compared to the previous, and to be serious i don't like it...

hinagiku from this season is not the same as the hinagiku from the ova or first .

well, perhaps it's to early to state such thoughts but by just seeing how hayate and hinagiku interact i had to write it down.

Hmm. I have caught a glimpse of first of second season's episode and I have to say, this is not the same type of hayate no gotoku even though it is. It's like most of the voice actors have gotten very tire so far from voice acting this show or their job. It's like ....they don't really want to do it. Kugimiya seems to be the only that would seem like she's putting effort most of the time UNTIL the point where she told Clause to be quiet. That was pretty weak. Clause is doing a gj. Hina is ok. She seems to be in good terms with Nagi...though not at first. Katsura and the gundam loving teacher is alright in my terms. I believe the minor characters are putting in that hype more so than Hayate as well. At first, Ryoko was quite dull, but I think she's starting to pick it up. I'm looking forward to it.
